This makes no sense on a number of levels.

I would take this profile with a huge bucket of salt. Seems really weird.

It can only be legit if he's abroad right now and got the email. Unlikely, yes...but maybe.

You're right, it's probably flame, but LSN does show both a 1/19/09 and a 1/20/09 acceptance before the 1/22 wave last year... That still doesn't explain the 135K though (I thought only Hamilton and Butlers were extended with the acceptance letter?).

*grasps at straws*

Yea but with those numbers he would have been accepted to Harvard by now if he applied to schools early enough to hear back from Columbia already.

damn, the hamilton/butlers offers are extended with the acceptances? i was really hoping that i might have a shot at one if i bumped my LSAT a lot in february.

do enough people decide to go elsewhere and turn them down such that they offer them to some other people come april?

So I received a call from Columbia asking me to interview on campus. Is this completely out of the ordinary?

What are your numbers? If they're very high it could be related to a scholarship (maybe) and if they're low, it could be that they're interested but want to check you out first.

Has anyone visited campus? Had any luck meeting with any important people, such as admissions committee members?

I was there in November and loved it. I was sitting in what I can only describe as an "administrative lounge," off of which was the registrars office and various other offices. The admissions office was right off this area and the door was open, but I was too chicken to go in and show my face. If I could do it again I'd go back and ask if I could meet with someone though. I wouldn't put it out of the range of possibilities...

Visited last spring (class was out for one reason or another though). My visit would have been almost pointless were I not already in NYC for another interview. I went up to the admissions office, and talked to a student receptionist--and basically got handed a self-guided tour pamphlet and was told to have at it. All in all, the person didn't seem all that enthused that someone was there, and interested in touring the campus and talking to adcoms. The highlight of my visit, aside from seeing the facilities, was someone in the CLS library, who took the time to tell me all about the library. (I was introduced to said person because you need permission to go in the library and get buzzed in through the security door).

Anyway, if you go visit, try and schedule an appointment or something with an admin. I did however relay the positive aspects of my visit in a LOCI, and I think that is what got me deferred from ED this year (as opposed to outright rejected). Good luck!
