Would it be a bad move to cite MyLSN results in a scholarship appeal?

serious black box. I got nothing from Michigan and 50% here. If I would have received the same offer from Michigan in Jan I would have already deposited!Blue664 wrote:Wow...roughly half of what Michigan and Duke offered. I really tried on my essays too. This stuff is such a black box.

120k. Pretty solid, more than Duke offered. Comports with several on LSN. If asw goes awesome I'll negotiate up.

Would showing interest (like attending ASW) be of any help in terms of increasing a scholarship?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
are you going to say something like "people with my numbers usually get more money" or something? I don't think that'll get them to move since that doesn't show that they're competing with other offers from peer schools. there's no real incentive for them to increase their scholarship and could show that NU is currently your best option. I guess if you have no other bargaining chips it couldn't hurt.somedeadman wrote:Care to elaborate? I'm curious about this as well. Right now for me it's between WashU with no debt vs. NU at almost sticker, so I don't even know what would qualify as a best option.proteinshake wrote:are you going to say something like "people with my numbers usually get more money" or something? Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
yeah definitely would not do that, as tempting as it is. you have no idea of the story behind the numbers that you see on LSN - people with your same stats but higher offers could have some merit + need, could have some impressive work experience, other "strong softs," etc. etc. and I think it would come off as presumptuous to reference their offers to try to argue for a higher offer for yourself. and, like protein said, just because they offered more to someone else with your numbers doesn't mean that what they've offered you doesn't make them your best choice.proteinshake wrote:are you going to say something like "people with my numbers usually get more money" or something? also important to note that the LSN numbers are going to be after negotiations. they very well could have had lower initial offers.Anon.y.mousse. wrote:yeah definitely would not do that, as tempting as it is. you have no idea of the story behind the numbers that you see on LSN - people with your same stats but higher offers could have some merit + need, could have some impressive work experience, other "strong softs," etc. etc. and I think it would come off as presumptuous to reference their offers to try to argue for a higher offer for yourself. and, like protein said, just because they offered more to someone else with your numbers doesn't mean that what they've offered you doesn't make them your best choice.proteinshake wrote:are you going to say something like "people with my numbers usually get more money" or something? I think a better option would to say "I am very hesistant to take on this much debt but a $X increase in my scholarship would definitely make me commit" or something like that.somedeadman wrote:Hmm good to know. Depends on what you want. If you're hunting unicorns then take SLS and don't look back. If you're cool with grinding big law in a big city and don't want academia/feeder clerkship then free is bigdyebri wrote:Hey guys,

Alright, I'm going to do that. Might use LSN numbers as a last ditch effort or something, but sounds like it's a pretty bad idea

What are your career goals? If just Biglaw, then NU with no debt is the smarter move. Stanford is more reasonable if you're going for the unicorn things though.dyebri wrote:Hey guys,
