Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
Looking at last year's thread, I've come up with two potential insights.
One: calls during the early February wave started earlier in the day; several posters mentioned receiving calls in the morning, which makes me hesitant to believe that today is the day. However, that was also the second and third days of the wave. On the first day, the first JS2s were emails sent to international students.
Two: we all need to change our avatars to pictures of cats.

Also, the mid-January interviews seemed to be around the 14th-16th and I believe they were around the 20th-22nd this year. So if we go by spacing, between interviews and JS2s it might not be until next Monday.schocolate wrote:Looking at last year's thread, I've come up with two potential insights.

Yeah, they had the Christmas eve JS1s last cycle (little jealous about that), whereas the "equivalent" round of JS1s was January 4/5.sanibella wrote:Also, the mid-January interviews seemed to be around the 14th-16th and I believe they were around the 20th-22nd this year. Haha, there aren't really any calculations on my part, just random speculation. But using the "desperate grasping for anything" calculator, I think having the JS1 wave later (early January as opposed to Christmas eve) means that the overall set of interview spaces are later in the month compared to last year. But I didn't look at the openings very closely; I pretty much just booked my time before they had a chance to tell me the interview offer was a mistake.yes_plz1868 wrote:
I was part of the Jan 4/5 JS1 wave but had my interview 1/15. Not sure how that affects your calculations.

If that (or some other picture with a cat) isn't your tar before the 3pm JS2 window opens we will all know who to blame if there are no acceptances today...

When did the app close last year? In my totally made up knowledge of how an admissions office worked, I'd imagine they'd take some X days after all apps were submitted to dig out of the paperwork before getting back to the important work of sending out admits.schocolate wrote:Haha, there aren't really any calculations on my part, just random speculation. In the recent past it has always closed on Feb 1st! and Last year they had decisions on Monday the 2nd. If a wave doesn't happen today, I'm officially giving up on speculating until one does. Today is so logical.mdnyc wrote:When did the app close last year? That's what I thought. Well, I heard from Columbia while I was in a meeting, and I'm just entering one now. Open up TLS to see 2 new pages on this thread - figured there must be new JS2s. Instead I see everyone has morphed into crazy cat ladies.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
There was speculation about a potential correlation between cat avatars and JS2s/other signs of movement in last year's thread. I think someone changed their avatar to a cat and then got a JS2 soon after and it escalated from there.jetsfan1 wrote:This lol. Can someone please explain the cat thing?
