Thanks! So I'm guessing no big wave soon.

Anyone know anything (more than what is on the admissions blog) about the faculty review process?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Just popping in to say that I don't think anyone should be too concerned about the length of the interview. I don't think the interview length can mean anything in and of itself. In being concerned that the interview is shorter rather than longer, the implicit assumption seems to be that the interviewer has full control over the length of the interview, and that making it shorter implies a lack of interest in the applicant. Assuming though that the interviewers come into the interview intending to ask roughly the same amount of questions of each applicant, give or take one or two (and not necessarily being the same questions), it would actually be the applicant who controls the interview length by how long his or her answers are. So if you just take longer to answer the same kinds of questions, your interview would be longer, and it would have little to do with what the interviewer thinks of you before and during the interview. I say this as someone whose interview was upwards of 20 minutes. In fact, a shorter interview may be better if you come across as concise and to the point instead of long-winded!2666 wrote:Interesting. This sounds more like a UChi interview.Orion311 wrote:Just finished my interview with Lauren.
Was anyone else's interview incredibly short? My interview started a couple of minutes late (perhaps a small factor) and was definitely around 10 minutes, maybe 11. Makes me concerned. Right at the beginning of the interview she said something like "this is going to go by pretty fast, we only have about 15 minutes".
Questions:
-Tell me about what you are most proud of
-If you could go back in time and change one decision during your undergrad, what would it be -(follow ups for the details)
-Questions about some specific resume stuff (how did this influence your choice to go to law school?)
-Why do you want to go to law school directly out of undergrad?
-Is there anything you want to do in your last few months of undergrad to feel like you've fully experienced college?
-Do you have any questions for me?
Mine is short as well, around 13 minutes, and I got the same "this is going to go by pretty fast" thing in the beginning.

No big wave, but definitely would imply a wave soon. as I would think the 1/8 JS1 wave would have scheduled already. There's only been one week this cycle since they started handing out JS1s where we didn't have any movement, so my guess is Friday.w0w wrote:Thanks! I don't want to bring down the mood, but just a heads up everyone that last year, the first rejections came on 1/16, which was today's equivalent (the second Thursday after the holidays). Although things might be different this year, I figured it would be worth mentioning.

Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't ding until March or April honestly.pylon wrote:I don't want to bring down the mood, but just a heads up everyone that last year, the first rejections came on 1/16, which was today's equivalent (the second Thursday after the holidays). That prospect is horrifying, I can handle getting rejected, not sure I can handle hearing nothing for 2-3 more months.lc39 wrote:Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't ding until March or April honestly.pylon wrote:I don't want to bring down the mood, but just a heads up everyone that last year, the first rejections came on 1/16, which was today's equivalent (the second Thursday after the holidays). Quick question: Waiting on a JS1 invite (fingers crossed), but will be out of the country from tomorrow evening till the 28th. I was going to set up a voicemail that specifically said that, and that I could be reached by email. Not going to hurt my chances, is it? (Someone reassure me, please).
ETA: Will be somewhere with really bad internet reception for 6 of the 10 days.

As a late Sept completion.... I'm just so depressed/pessimistic/already-dinged-in-the-head with my lack of a JS1... I've grown too weary to post.w0w wrote:Any news on how many JS1 spots are avaliable, if any? I think I might be the only one who still cares as it seems like I'm the one without a JS1...
But know... I am here too... waiting in the shadows...

Are there interviews scheduled for next week? If not, maybe we'll finally see some JS2 movement. I have zero hope for tomorrow.

The 177 was my third take. And it's a 3.88. But I appreciate it. And no I wouldn'tbe worried, JS1s come only via email and as long as you have internet connection for Skype interview, you're set!

Is Harvard splitter friendly though? I thought his/her GPA was a 3.9, but it's actually only a 3.88.musedreverie wrote:I remember you! Isn't H's 50th a 3.87...? So a 3.88 is still above the median. That's hardly a splitterpulstar1 wrote:
