Okay everybody, MD is about ready to submit but he has one final question for his fellow Harvard aspirants. For the "academic honors and awards, or other recognitions you have received," what sorts of things did you put? I assume at least dean's lists and Latin honors go here. If so, did you put a separate entry for each semester?

And out of curiosity, what things did people put for this other than DL/LH? I'm trying to assess where I stand as an applicant in the softs department.

Finally, in the employment section, how many activities did you list? Did you mostly just reproduce whatever you listed on your résumé? I suspect putting none is a red flag but I don't know if they're expecting two or twelve entries.

I put deans list and latin honors there, separated by whether they were annual or quarterly. it was like...

DEAN'S LIST-------Spring 1776-Fall 1780
ANNUAL DEAN'S LIST-----1776-1777, 1777-1778
etc (except with real dates obvi)

i didn't have anything else, but i am an average-to-below-average softs person.

in the employment section, I listed all the jobs I've worked (that were on my resume as well) and all the major school activities i've done. there was more there than on my resume.

I forgot to put Dean's List down, then added things like latin honors (just societies), scholarships, and other awards won while at school. I tried to keep it short and simple, though, so I only included big things. In total, I had 5 listed, even though my resume lists 8+. They're going to look at both, so I left the smaller ones like cum laude for the resume.

For the jobs, I did reproduce my resume. I didn't want to have conflicting information, so I listed the 4-5 jobs I've had throughout college and after, but had a bit more info about those jobs on my resume, simply because there's more room to include that stuff on the resume.


Edit: You shouldn't follow my advice on the awards stuff though. I don't know why I did that. Definitely list latin societies, distinction, cum laudes, scholarships, awards, dean's lists, etc. Just don't worry about any forgotten awards ruining your app. JS won't go "Hmm, MD didn't get Dean's List? There's no way we can let that sort of character in here."

I'm very late to the discussion over multiple LSATs, but I was a 3x taker and was admitted in the initial waves at both Stanford and Harvard. I think the only way multiple LSATs hurt is if you're a marginal candidate elsewhere (GPa, softs, character concerns, took a year off to do nothing but study for the test and hang out).

Not to mention, your honors, activities, awards, etc. would presumably be on your resume anyway, so they would hopefully see it there.
