is there a "application submitted for review" status before the "application under review" status? or am i confusing status checkers....

No. UR is the final step for HLS after "Complete."

"Submitted for review" is for SLS, after which you'll get "decision letter sent" in red letters at the very top.

Hi, can anyone tell me how long it takes the admitted packet to arrive usually?

Mine was sent the same day I got the JR2, which was Monday.

Hey guys, can anyone give me some insight on my situation? I submitted on 11/12, went UR 11/19, had my JR1 12/6, and haven't heard anything since. No JR2, hold or rejection. Is anyone else in a similar boat in terms of extremely long wait after JR1 without any sort of decision? I'm starting to think I've been put on the waitlist but I haven't even received that news either.

Also, do you know how strict they are about making a decision within 2 months of your file being complete? Mine went complete 12/1, so I'm holding out hope that I'll hear something in the next few days. It would be cruel if that was more like the pirates code and I have to wait till who knows when.

I don't think they are that strict about it at all, plenty of people have waited much, much longer than 2 months of file being complete for a decision, myself included (like 3 or 4 months for a hold, not sure if you count that as a decision or not). I wouldn't hold out hope that you'll hear something in the next few days, try and be patient, I know it's tough. Best of luck.

FWIW, I did just receive an email from Harvard saying that my application is complete. Not sure if that means they are open. I am also not sure what it means for my application since it has been UR since 01/14.

I also got an email this morning notifying me that my application was complete. Had my JR1 a couple days ago, and went UR last week, right before I got the JR1 email. My status checker still says under review, not complete.

CONFUSED. Same issue as juliachild-ish.

I submitted 12/25, got the application acknowledgment email 1/3, and my status checker went to "Under Review" on 1/14.

BUT, this morning I got an email that my application is "complete." But my status checker hasn't changed from UR 1/14.

I was also mildly disturbed that the "complete" email said "We will notify you promptly once a decision is made. Those decision notifications will be made via email."

Everyone knows you get into Harvard by a phone call from JR. Has anyone who's gotten into HLS gotten this same complete email, or are they preparing me for my inevitable email ding?

That is how Harvard's status checker works. People who have high enough numbers etc usually submit, go UR, hear from JR, and then go Complete. It happens to everyone and has been well documented over and over in the last few months. Also- that e-mail is sent to everyone. Yes, he calls, but that e-mail is sent to everyone so don't worry about it. (Essentially, chill, you're fine.)

Edit: Also, the status checker will stay at review (not complete) and even if you don't get the JR1 before you go complete, you're fine. You're probably not an auto-admit, but neither is most everyone. People have gotten calls even months after.

Second Edit: YES, YOU DO GO UNDER REVIEW BEFORE YOU GO COMPLETE. <3 Lzy

that email is legit... granted, i didn't receive mine until after my JR1, but i'm sure there are many who went complete beforehand as well.

Question, did anybody else have an Under Review Date prior to the Completion date?

My Completion email came on 1/20 but my Application Under Review Date on the Status Checker is 1/7

Thank you for the info! Worrying about why I went submit--> UR--> complete--> ???JR1-I-hope???? instead of submit--> UR--> JR1--> complete will take my mind off wondering when that stupid NYU letter will get here.

GUYS I got my application complete e-mail after I went under review and I fully believe this is such a unique and surprising event that it warrants making a panicked post here instead of searching..IS THIS NORMAL?!!?!
