+1 I went to UVA for undergrad and absolutely loved it. Went into this cycle almost completely set on UVA, but without $$, I may have to take a scholly at a T-20 in the market where I eventually want to work. Really hoping they pull through before Friday, but still trying to manage my expectations.speedofthought wrote:I know that those of us still waiting will hear back about scholarship information by Friday, but every day that I check my mailbox and have nothing from UVA, my heart breaks a little.
I looked at last year's forum and at LSN and couldn't really get an idea of what percentage of people who heard back about scholarship funding only through SIS actually received a scholarship offer that way. I'm getting kind of worried about it, especially since I've been admitted for about four months already.

I'm on the WL and I'm working on a Why UVA to send in. (I know I'm an idiot for not doing that in the first place). By chance does anyone remember the guidelines for this? The prompt doesn't show on the PDF of the submitted app on LSAC.

Do you mean what to write about or how to send it in?

What to write about. If there was a specific prompt and/or word count guidelines.patttt wrote:jessmeesh wrote:I'm on the WL and I'm working on a Why UVA to send in. Really? I could have sworn I saw a post here that said UVA and Umich were both schools you essentially HAD to write Why X statements for. The anxiety may just be getting to me and I'm losing it though....

I didn't write one for UVA and got in. Shoot me a PM and I'll help you with your Why essay though, I prepped that question pretty hard for my interviewjessmeesh wrote:mrgstephe wrote:UVA doesn't request one/prompt for one in their applicationpatttt wrote:jessmeesh wrote:I'm on the WL and I'm working on a Why UVA to send in. I think it is definitely beneficial to write one for those schools if you're a splitter. I am and I wrote one for each and got into both.jessmeesh wrote:mrgstephe wrote:UVA doesn't request one/prompt for one in their applicationpatttt wrote:jessmeesh wrote:I'm on the WL and I'm working on a Why UVA to send in. According to LSN, the last UVA Acceptance "wave" of the 2015-2016 cycle was on 3/3/2016. Random acceptances after that, but mostly waitlists and rejections. I'm still UR1 so L-O-L.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I think I may have been misinterpreted earlier - their application doesn't specifically ask/prompt for one, but it is widely regarded around these parts as a very helpful component to a successful application. Sure, people get in without one, but it certainly doesn't hurt to write one (and in my case I'd say it helped - my interviewer referenced it, and it gave me additional talking points in the interview)jessmeesh wrote:Your numbers are better than mine, but I'm holding out hope for getting of the WL at UVA. How long should my LOCI be? I feel like I should write a 4 page letter pouring my heart out so they accept me!
