I just got rolled with a 3.6/173 and a solid PS. I was also accepted to NYU on monday. I'm not really sure what to make of this.

Yeah, it's not pure YP. I have better numbers than that and a good PS/good "Why Cornell?" but there are a lot of people with really great numbers who were let in. It's hard to read.PigBodine wrote:I just got rolled with a 3.6/173 and a solid PS. I was also accepted to NYU on monday. I'm not really sure what to make of this.

Top 20 schools don't really straight up yield protect, but there's an interesting yield protect element to it -- notice that you aren't rolled automatically, and you have to request normal consideration. That's going to weed out a lot of people (like me) who've been accepted to better schools and won't bother to request being rolled over, which is going to artificially inflate the yield rate. Pretty clever system, IMO.addy11 wrote:Yeah, it's not pure YP. You got into NYU? Withdraw from Cornell. Then the rest of us might have a shot.PigBodine wrote:I just got rolled with a 3.6/173 and a solid PS. I was also accepted to NYU on monday. I'm not really sure what to make of this.

agreed.neuroticjew wrote:I actually don't feel too bad about our chances (those of us who got deferred). They admitted a ton of 17x LSATs who will withdraw in favor of Harvard, Columbia, Chicago, et al. in the coming months. Most of us will probably get WL in February or March and move up the list thereafter.
left this thread for 40 minutes and such unfortunate developments...
No header for me. Still sitting at 12/16
Really hoping Cornell was going to give me an early birthday present today. Guess not : (

All we can do is hope for the best.
I have to say, though, this waiting has definitely worn down my optimism. Well, here's to two more days of waiting and, hopefully, another batch of acceptances on Monday!

The contact part of the website says that they're available for contact until 4pm on Fridays, but I don't know if that means they close at that time. If it does, it seems like they stayed late tonight.msblaw89 wrote:Does Cornell close at 5?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
