Well there can be date updates, but the status will remain the same: --LinkRemoved--

Nice video. What exactly does that have to do with anything?
Sry that was my bad. I was sending it to a friend and I accidentally copied it here.

It's ok. It made about as much sense as the UVA admission cycle, so it surprisingly fit in well with the thread.

sorry to hear! I know you have some really awesome options though. Planning on waiting it out?
Haha, not sure yet, i'll sleep on it. I don't really feel like withdrawing but I don't want to hurt other applicants who are seriously considering UVA So I think I will probably end up withdrawing at some point in the near future.

Add me to the WL party.
Don't really have the numbers for Virginia, but I'm still exceptionally bummed.

My dad was admitted to Harvard, NYU, Columbia and Chicago and WL at UVa. 30 years ago. They've been running this scam for decades.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty envious of your Chicago acceptance--makes me wish I had applied, ha! I really, really want Michigan, but after Virginia passing, I'm not entirely too optimistic.

WHY AM I STILL IN THIS? Just watching the WL's go down I keep expecting one, but it doesn't happen. UVA quit playing games with my heart.

I think there's been a few folk mention not receiving emails.

What makes you call it a scam?

We know how important rankings are. One of the few things schools can easily control is their selectivity and, to some extent, their medians.

The school is actively penalized for every student they offer a place to who does not matriculate. It's late in the season, so there's little scholarship money left in the pot to offer. Bearing that in mind, if admissions see numbers that make them think the student will likely enroll at a higher ranked school, or accept a substantial scholarship from a lower ranked one, why make the offer?

That's why so many stress the importance of a strong Why UVa and why the school loves ED applicants. They really want to make as few offers as possible while filling the class and maintaining or improving their medians.

I know the deal; I'm going through the exact same admissions process that you are. I was just being cheeky.

Ah, my apologies.

It is frustrating, and the real scam is of course the US News rankings. Why on earth would selectivity be a factor in determining the quality of a school?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
