Honestly, in the thinking positive vein, I think all of us review committee folks should be ecstatic for one golden item in the email: a date they will let us know.

Although I used the present tense, I didn't mean I was hitting refresh today, but that I will continue to hit refresh during the days that they said they will be looking at applications on the off chance they decide to jump the gun and release some decisions quickly, such as for someone who had a heart-wrenching PS that touches a professor and gets accepted immediately, or for someone who doesn't use "there," "their," or "they're" correctly and gets quickly rejected by a grammar nazi.

I was thinking of sending a LOCI updating them on where else I got in and what I have been up to since then (new job) - would that seem obnoxious though (esp the mentioning other schools I got into - even though I would say I'd take Boalt over them...which I would)?

Nope - If your date hasn't updated you likely were not put into commitee review. Another way to check is if you got the e-mail, and if you didn't, it should still say on the left side of your status checker something about going into committee review.

Have there been dings/WL's in January? I'm UR 1/10. As a supersplitter I assumed I was auto-reject, but there's always that little glimmer of hope (however statistically improbable admission may be) that keeps me following this thread...

how long after not receiving CR notification do you think it will take for a rejection to come? (UR 11/23)

This got lost yesterday, and I think it's an important note. You're not dead in the water if you didn't receive a committee review e-mail. However, if you're curious as to when you'll hear back if you are in fact going to be rejected, along with a few acceptances, there was an absolute slaughter on LSN on 2/18 last year. So that might be a good bet.

Just a heads up to all of those not receiving a FR e-mail yesterday.

It looks like Berkeley had two sets of FR last year: one for 2/18 and one for 3/12. (ditto for 2 years ago)

The 2nd group of FR seemed to be people from all different UR dates.

So, however slim it may seem, there's some hope left.

Also, maybe someone who received CR should start a new thread where you can discuss the ins and outs of CR, while the rest of us wait for the hammer (or a slim chance of 2nd CR).

Aaaand this is how crazy the application process can drive a person. I just got an email from Berkeley about submitting the fafsa forms and, though I am absolutely (intellectually) certain that this has nothing to do with whether or not I will be admitted and is, rather, a reminder to everybody who applies to do this (since the deadline is March 2, and thus is before they've even made all of their admissions decisions), I am trying to convince myself that this bodes well for me... arghhhh!!

Really all it means is that you're not an auto-admit and you aren't in the first round of CRs.

You shouldn't expect a CR e-mail anytime soon. If you are in the second round of CRs, you'll be notified after the first round is over (2/18 ish). Until then, there probably will not be much movement. Rejections should come around 2/18 for both those in CR and those not in CR.

(This is all based on last year's cycle. I certainly am no expert on this topic).

Lol. I assume they send it to everybody. But I really WANT to tell myself that, if they were planning going (edited for precision) to reject me, they certainly would not bother to remind me right?! (Clearly the answer to this rhetorical question is "no", but I like me some cognitive dissonance today apparently.)
