To the people that are getting scholarship offers...What are your stats if you don't mind me asking? Also, when did you turn in your application?

Got my scholarship for $8000/year today. I emailed and withdrew right after. I hope one of you gets the money. OOS tuition is just way too much money. Oh btw, 163/4.0, can't remember when I applied.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
Is the scholarship information coming via snail mail or e-mail? If snail mail, when was the award letter postmarked? I was accepted on 2/15 and didn't receive my acceptance letter until 2/21 or so despite the fact that I live 4 blocks away from the law school. It would be great to get any sort of money at this point. I haven't received any financial aid or award status letters from any of the places I have been accepted.

I got an email Thursday telling me that a scholarship offer had been mailed, and today I got the scholarship offer via snail mail. I've been accepted for quite some time.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
My scholarship letter was sent out March 4th (I live about a couple states away), but I got a business information letter instead today that went over deadlines and important dates. I called the office today, and after verifying your SSN, they told you your award. I got $7k/year, which puts a good dent to OOS tuition for me. I'll most likely have the letter in the mailbox tomorrow.

Letter dated March 4, was accepted mid February...the award was $8000 (but I'm also OOS).....this will most likely make me attend...will be visiting the school and the area very soon to make the final decision and I may bring my acceptance letter and scholarship offer with me !!!! really excited about attending UTK!!!!

Wait listed today via status checker. 159/3.57 oos. Does anyone know how likely/unlikely it is to get in off of a wait list? Specifically Tennessee's wait list? Could really use some good news as I have had none so far.

Our numbers are very similar. I am also out of state. However, my status checker still says review. I'll be monitoring this situation as well...and as it looks like I'll be in the same boat, I hope someone posts advice here!
PS...I haven't had much good news either. You're not alone this cycle.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's pretty tough to get off the waitlist. I was on it last year, and they did not accept many people. It all depends on class size, if they have 150-160 before the waitlist, you're chances are really slim.ihopeihope wrote:Wait listed today via status checker. 159/3.57 oos. Re: In at Tennessee 2010
I was a December re-taker so I couldn't put my application in until January. I think I went complete 1/14. I was really thinking I had a shot looking at the graph on LSN, but maybe I was just too late in the cycle. Feeling pretty crushed at the moment. Is there any way to tell where you are on the waitlist? Anything I can do to improve my chances of getting in off the waitlist? My husband has been accepted to the Math PH D program and so this was going to make things a lot easier if I had gotten in. Still waiting on several schools, but this was one I really, really wanted to go to. Thanks for the info everyone. Good luck. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.

Yep. I personally knew a guy with a 161/3.5ish, multiple relatives that are UT law alums, in state, and he was not let off the WL until August, 2 weeks before classes started - so, it is pretty tough.jeeptiger09 wrote:hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's pretty tough to get off the waitlist. IMO, your best bet will be to send in your app to UT next year as soon as they come out (September). I know how it feels, except mine was even worse - rejection with no WL. Good luck.

I am sorry to hear about the rejection. I know they hurt, because that is all I have been getting until this waitlist. Good to know, thank you for the advice--I am thinking it will come down to that. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do for the year that I am waiting b/c I will be moving there for my husband to start his PH D at Knoxville and the economy is awful--so I'll probably have a crappy job--which isn't going to look good for round 2 of admissions. sigh.

Hang in there, and don't lose hope. I had 5 or so straight rejections before Tennessee accepted me, so I was a little down before I received their orange envelope.
If you do reapply, don't worry about having a crappy job. I've applied to over 125 jobs since my graduation from Boston, and the only success I had were unpaid internships. To supplement my income, I worked (and still am) at a retail store. I double majored and I've spent the last 8 months folding clothes. I was worried how law schools looked at that -- so I wrote that in my personal statement.

wow...at least you guys have heard something. I've been complete since nov 4 and I haven't heard a peep since. I'm in-state with a 162 and a 2.98. I assume that I haven't been waitlisted yet, since they would have told me by now. But then again, I'm not sure what they're waiting on. i'd really like to hear something soon as I've gotten a scholarship to LSU and have to mail in the first seat deposit by early april. Is there anyone who've been complete as long as I have who haven't heard ANYTHING yet?

I have been "review" at Tennessee since early January, I have not heard anything from them either. I guess my app is on hold, not the official waitlist?

I have been complete and I have a review date from early October. Not a peep. I'm nervous, as UTK is currently leading the pack as far as my choices go!southernboy wrote:wow...at least you guys have heard something. I don't think so. I applied in November and didn't hear back until February (Accepted), so I don't think this two month wait is anything to worry about. Best of luck!ram jam wrote:I have been "review" at Tennessee since early January, I have not heard anything from them either. I guess my app is on hold, not the official waitlist?

Thanks for all the advice and good thoughts guys. I'm feeling a lot better today, you guys are giving me hope. Good luck to all of those who are still waiting, I know it is torture.

What is the average amount of money TN is giving out for in state? I got 5K a year. Anyone think they will increase as more and more people withdraw?

Tennessee is the key for me figuring out what to do with my cycle and they just won't get to my app!

So, under the "status" bar of the status checker, my date and status have disappeared...What exactly does this mean? All my requirements are still there in the box below.
