Re: Harvard 2010!
So I submitted my app in early October, went complete on the 13th and just got my completed email from HLS today. Anyone else get a delay like this? How long between receiving your HLS complete email and the JR1 email???
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Harvard 2010!
okay. JUST had the phone call.
I've replayed it a million times in my head and I'm probably freaking myself out about it, but I think it went okay.
It was super-short and super-straightforward... JR is really pleasant!!
If you have ANY idea why you want to go to Harvard, and law school in particular, you should be okay!
I was probably a little flustered in the beginning, but really guys its nothing to worry about...
oh. and he said they'll get back to me as soon as they can. great.

My status changed to "under review" a couple of weeks ago and I just got the complete e-mail today.cciti65 wrote:So I submitted my app in early October, went complete on the 13th and just got my completed email from HLS today. Re: Harvard 2010!
Just finished my phone call as well.
Just in case anyone else forgets this: the interview time is EST haha. I was expecting my interview three hours later
He was really great about it, though. The conversation was very relaxed and he basically asked only the questions in the JR1 email. I was definitely a bit nervous and probably came off a little flustered. Ah well, he said he would get back to me as soon as possible.

Just had mine, too. It was shorter than I expected, and really relaxed: more a chance to elaborate on my resume than anything else. JR was friendly and had a lot of good things to say about HLS (no surprise there, I suppose). Future JR1 recipients, this is nothing to freak out about!

I'm not really expecting a JR1, but I think it's interesting that he gave you an approximate time of the call. Are those of you that were interviewed already currently students (e.g. with free time)? I'm sure many people who work full time have limited availability for personal phone calls...

I for one am currently a student. The time he scheduled it for happened to work out well for me, but he did mention a reschedule was possible if the time didn't work well.ylc wrote:I'm not really expecting a JR1, but I think it's interesting that he gave you an approximate time of the call. I work full-time, but my schedule is flexible enough to take an hour out of my day. They did leave the door open for rescheduling in the email.ylc wrote:I'm not really expecting a JR1, but I think it's interesting that he gave you an approximate time of the call. So does everybody think that we'll have to wait until Nov 20-25 for JR2's? After the JR1 today, I can't imagine having to wait another month :/

Yeah, I'm really hoping that "we'll get back to you very soon" != "several weeks from now."sfdreaming09 wrote:So does everybody think that we'll have to wait until Nov 20-25 for JR2's? After the JR1 today, I can't imagine having to wait another month :/

Or at least more of a rambler...marbletop wrote: 9 mins. T14, you must be more interesting than me.

I had one semi-surprising question. He mentioned that sometimes law is a stressful profession, and he asked what sort of support networks I expected to rely on if I were accepted. Not necessarily a difficult question, but slightly unexpected.DoubleChecks wrote:hope i dont choke or get some out of the ballpark question next week lol

T14, having Ari as your avatar totally throws me off. I just assume you're going to come into a thread and be a total asshole--a "lowly Harvard grad with a JD / MBA from the University of Michigan"--but you're the nicest guy on the boards.
Always a shock.

I'd say it's gotta be the whole "Canadian" thing. "Charisma" and "charm" don't really exist anywayVoidSix wrote:T14, having Ari as your avatar totally throws me off. Haha yes I guess me and Ari have a few differences. Thanks for the nice guy comment though.
I will be changing the Ari picture to a selftar if I get accepted. That way anyone who I talk to in these threads can identify me at ASW days (at Harvard or other schools). Maybe the imminent selftarization of my profile helps temper any Ari impulses...

Re: Harvard 2010!
No, I got the same topics. Just that when he was asking about what I was up to currently, they were specific questions about the main points from my resume. No curve balls.DoubleChecks wrote:thanks for all the heads up on how it went! much appreciated

Re: Harvard 2010!
Just got the same thing today. I submitted in late September and my app status has said under review for a while. I'm not sure what to think, but I am really hoping it's not a bad sign...cciti65 wrote:So I submitted my app in early October, went complete on the 13th and just got my completed email from HLS today. Re: Harvard 2010!
Just submitted my application. It's a super long-shot because my GPA and LSAT are basically both at their 25th percentile. I'm curious about all the HLS application process lingo though. What is the JR1, TS1, what is the process with phone calls, and all that?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are three major steps to acceptance:js87 wrote:Just submitted my application. It's a super long-shot because my GPA and LSAT are basically both at their 25th percentile. Thanks.
1) You apply (and go complete)
2) If you are selected, you receive a phone interview (around 1100 people receive this call. It used to be called TS1, as in Toby Stock #1. Toby Stock was the interviewer at the time. Now it is called JR1, since it is now Josh Rubenstein calling.
3) If you are selected from the 1100 interviewees (around 830 people are), then you receive a second phone call offering admission (used to be TS2, now JR2).
I think that is about it!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
