Why Northwestern Law?
What's a time you applied for a job and didn't get it? How'd you deal with it?
How have you facilitated a disagreement between two teammates?
A time you got frustrating news - how'd you deal with it?
Talk about a time you were very productive - what was the environment like?
When you and a colleague didn't see eye-to-eye - what did you do?
Loose wordings - I think themes for any of the questions are gonna be overcoming adversity or bettering yourself.

Yeah; they have recorded video questions where you get a minute to respond. Would recommend in-person if you can, I'm just two hours from the nearest eligible city.Madiscone wrote:Sorry- what is the online interview? Different than alum?

So, my online interview could have been worse, probably. I feel good about 3/6, okay about 1, and pretty not great about 2. I am very happy it is over with; I don't recommend it to anyone if they can avoid it.
I had multiple questions about failure, which I don't think I've seen mentioned before and I certainly wasn't ready for them.

Did everyone submit the two optional questions about what your plans are after law school?

I think you're right. Just did mine today and want to echo everyone else's sentiment about how miserable it is. Also, it seems like there's no preparing for any of the questions besides "Why NU?" because no one else has posted the questions I got so far. One thing I will say is, don't take any stock in the questions they ask you in the practice portion, because they are nothing like the questions you'll get in the actual interview.Houzy wrote:Online interview was tough. After reading what everyone else is saying about its difficulty and the laid back nature of the in-person interviews, I honestly believe it is designed to make you fail, and is more about how you handle being in tough situations. Some of the questions are so specific that it's nearly impossible to come up with something rational in the 30 second time frame. Just my opinion.
Here are the q's I can remember (there were actually 6 in total, but I can't remember 2 of them):
-Name a time where you were part of a team that had low morale/was struggling, and what you did about it.
-Name a time when you had to work with a difficult person, what made them difficult to work with, and what did you do about it?
-Name a time when you were incorrectly blamed for something, and what did you do about it?
-Why NU?

Lol, one of my practice questions was "Talk about something funny that happened to you recently"... was actually one of the harder questions!NotAGolfer wrote:I think you're right. Hello, I'm visiting the school this week and trying to figure out which class to sit in on. I'm debating between two -- Pfander's civil procedure class and Tuerkheimer's criminal law class. Has anyone attended either and have any thoughts?

Most of these seem to be your typical behavioral interview style questions. Not an exact match but close enough that if you studied a behavioral guide you could probably come up with answers relatively easily.NotAGolfer wrote:I think you're right. Just completed my online interview, thought I would share my Qs with anybody yet to take it because I felt that some were certainly curveballs (only thing I had prepared for that was on here was why NW):
-Personality trait that will help you most in law school
-Something you believed in for a long time but don't anymore
-One change you would make looking back over your life
-If you could eradicate one social problem what would it be
-Name a time you analyzed a large data set or did extensive research on something
-Why NW

Should I be concerned that my interview was a week ago and my application is still incomplete?

I did the online interview and it took 8 or 9 business days for my status checker to change.katthegreat11 wrote:Should I be concerned that my interview was a week ago and my application is still incomplete?

That makes me nervous. I am doing the online video interview today. I am applying early decision. Hopefully it gets in in time. Also, I sent in my early decision certification at the end of last week, how long does that take to show up?

I didn't receive one either so after awhile I emailed them and they said they sent it but I checked every box. They resent itac8876a wrote:Did my off-campus interview 10 days ago, but still haven't received a status checker?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I have completed everything for my NW ED! Just a waiting game now!!
That video interview definitely was odd. I was freaking out in practice because my answers were awful, but I think it was just a mental block because I knew they didn't count. When I was under pressure the answers came out as best as I could hope for.
My Questions (paraphrased of course):
-Why NU?
-Talk about a time when you analyzed data and came up with a recommendation?
-Tell about a time where you worked with people that had disagreements, and what did you do to resolve those?
-What would you add to the NU community?
-Talk about a time where you worked with someone that had a different work style than you, and how did you keep a good relationship?
I don't remember the sixth.

For those who did the off-campus interview, how long did it take for your application to go complete afterward?
On the status checker, it says to wait "3-5 business days" after completing the interview for the application to update, and I'm sitting at 7 days now with my application still incomplete. Anyone else?
