Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2015-2016 (Class of 2019)
Received 2nd feeler email from Georgetown. Information in it might be helpful.
Was in special preferred group.
Hello xxx,
Thank you for following up with us recently to express your continuing interest in Georgetown Law. Our first seat deposit deadline came and went Monday, and at the moment, the Admissions Committee has decided it will be making a few offers to waitlisted candidates by end of week or early next week. I don’t know who yet, or how many, but most years the Committee admits about 40 candidates from the Preferred Waitlist. You are being considered at present, so I wanted to check in to see if there have been any changes regarding where Georgetown lies in your decision-making process. If you have anything else you’d like the Committee to know at this time, please let me know, as well.
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Blake

As someone who isn't really actively riding this waitlist (so will give you an honest opinion), Suits.

Tomorrow we are supposedly getting the update email. Anyone else think it's going to be "currently our deposits are strong" with the possible exception of those who were interviewed this past weekend?

Well, it probably won't be an acceptance, so we can at least cross that off the list of things that we might get tomorrowLaw2511 wrote:Tomorrow we are supposedly getting the update email. Was at interview this past Saturday. Just got email thanking me for coming etc and saying that they will be in touch with news or an update in the next couple of weeks.ls2k16 wrote:Well, it probably won't be an acceptance, so we can at least cross that off the list of things that we might get tomorrowLaw2511 wrote:Tomorrow we are supposedly getting the update email. I will add that it doesn't seem like Dean Cornblatt could learn that much about individual candidates from the interview - there wasn't really opportunity for anyone to shine or stand out. The best such a group interview could do is to weed out the insanely socially inept.
In my opinion, the biggest winner in these late, waitlist interviews is Georgetown. It doesn't give us interviewees much chance to stand out, but it keeps Georgetown in the running for us, keeps us hoping, keeps it on our mind, and thus keeps us as an option for them if someone doesn't deposit.

I did one of these interviews back in March and definitely second that it is hard to stand out or really get to know the candidates individually. It does put a name to a face, which could maybe add some value and does show that you are interested, at least enough to attend.osgiliath wrote:Was at interview this past Saturday. I didn't get an invite to attend another interview this weekend (I live in DC) but I thought that was because they only allow one interview per cycle. So I am hoping that it isn't necessarily bad news. On the preferred wl and have visited and written LOCIs.

Agreed. I interviewed in December (1 on 1 with an alum), so my experience is slightly different. However, I guess you can look at the positive side-- not everyone on the waitlist was given an interview, so you have to be of some interest to Gtown.jsylkpd wrote:That's some good analysis.osgiliath wrote:Was at interview this past Saturday. Nope. Preferred and full time. I thought someone would have heard something by now, as a lot of us were promised an update today.bobobo wrote:Has anyone heard anything today (except for the interview thank you note)?

I bet you it will happen at 4:45 pm and it will be another one of those that they need more time to make the decisions.Law2511 wrote:Nope. Preferred and full time.
