I would say spend sometime poking around their website. Look for different programs, professors, strengths they emphasize and opportunities they offer that seem really cool or unique. If you can't find a few it might not be as top as you think. But if you find a few and talk about them and why you are really interested in them, its at least a good starting point

woodchuck78 wrote: I wonder if they use these as a way to vet out who really is interested in going to NDLS v. those who are just applying because they got the fee waiver. I would think that the Why NDLS essay is the only "mandatory" essay, as the DKL essay seems to be a disguised diversity statement (as countless others have mentioned).
This, when I spoke with NDLS's admission over the years, they said they used the optional essays to gauge true interest. NDLS is in an interesting position where it is a great law school, but it is in a location that does not otherwise attract students. I.e., students generally prefer to be in NYC, Chicago, LA, etc; people generally do not want to be in South Bend, IN if given the choice. So they are very wary of the students simply applying with no intention of attending. Said students can affect admitted/attended ratio, scholarship offers, uncertainty of the incoming class. Therefore, a why ND essay is essential especially if it obvious that an applicant put in significant thoughts and efforts into writing one. The bottom line is they want to know that you are genuinely interested in ND instead of just sending in another application and using it as a leverage for other schools.

Don't feel left out, I'm in the same boat. No movement since mid November. I've also gotten into some schools above and on par with ND, so I'm hoping it's just because they have a lot of applicants, and not because I'm a poor candidate. :? That said applicants are up this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is a much more competitive and unpredictable cycle, so ya, I'm starting to worry too.

All the fields are optional, and feel free to put "anonymous" in the username field if you'd like to remain completely anon.

And let me know if you think I should add any other fields that you think are relevant. I included a scholarship field for later, but my understanding is we won't know scholarship amounts until the end of February.

In via email this morning. Nice to wake up to. No info about being reimbursed for visiting, but they said there is info about visiting on the admitted students website

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
