It looks like decisions are sent via email every Tuesday and Thursday. Someone on LSN who applied 11/03 was accepted today.

I wonder when Vanderbilt is going to start making decisions again.

There was at least a small batch of decisions that went out today.bdb90 wrote:I wonder when Vanderbilt is going to start making decisions again.

Is it normal for Vandy to take one month to arrange a Skype interview?

I've heard that sentiment a lot. Must be a really effective recruiting strategy for them -- I'd wondered why they used alumni, but it makes sense now.cheeseee wrote:I had my interview today. It wasn't really an interview. It was more like an information session. Very chill. Want to attend Vandy now
Mine is this week! Got any suggestions for questions to ask, or questions to know the answer to?

It does - thank you! Glad to know I can relax a bit.MOKE4311 wrote:Mine seemed super excited to sell me on:CJRpnw wrote:I've heard that sentiment a lot. Mine is this week! Got any suggestions for questions to ask, or questions to know the answer to?
1. Vandy's prestige, she loved that I asked if the name recognition helped her over her career
2. Nashville - I'm fairly liberal and hate country music and I kinda asked her how to handle that in Nashville in a playful way and she listed a bunch of bars and stuff for me. Crazy excited about Nashville
3. Profs - She wasn't as enthusiastic but had nothing but good things to say
4. Stacking Vandy up against the T14 - I asked if there's any merit in going to a near T14 as opposed to a T14 and she said a lot of employers actually would rather have someone without the implicit entitlement and the more Midwestern "work hard" values. She said it was the first time she'd been asked that.
Hope that helps a bit! Just be your normal, personable self and I'm sure you and your alum will get along just fine.

How long are the interviews typically? I have my Vandy interview scheduled for 10, and another school wants to schedule for 11. Any thoughts on if this is a safe amount of time?

Mine was only 20-30 mins but I would also take into account the format of your interview! If its at a coffee shop or restaurant then it is likely to be longer than if its in an office.costeea wrote: How long are the interviews typically? My interview was actually over an hour...that was circumstantial, but I would suggest giving yourself more time than that. I'm sure 11 would be fine, but you wouldn't want to jeopardize eithercosteea wrote:cheeseee wrote:I had my interview today. It wasn't really an interview. It was more like an information session. My interview is this Saturday morning at a cute little market in my town...I'm actually excited, I think it'll be really chill and fun, but also professionally-focused.

My interview was a little bit more than two hours at a coffeehouse.costeea wrote:cheeseee wrote:I had my interview today. It wasn't really an interview. It was more like an information session. Very chill. Want to attend Vandy now

I say schedule at least 3 hours between interviews. You don't want the added stress of a compressed timeline. It would also be nice to debrief yourself after the first interview.

I really hope Vandy starts cranking out decisions soon, this thread has turned into an extremely boring "interview info, please" thread.

Does your application status page change after your interview notes are submitted? I'm just curious because I haven't heard anything from them via email, and my status hasn't changed since I submitted my app about a month ago (my interview was on November 7th.)

Nashville is tough to get and somewhat restricted to people with serious ties. You won't have a hard time getting into any particular market because you went to Vandy. That said, it's easier to get to Chicago, for example, if you go to Northwestern. Or LA if you go to UCLA/USC. I would love to end up in NYC or somewhere close to it. I am from Boston if you couldn't guess by my username

NYC is going to be the easiest market to get into at any T20 school, relatively speaking. More jobs, less grade-selective, etc. I'd focus on overall placement power and $$$ if you're just wanting NYC.bostonmaura wrote:arklaw13 wrote:As the poster above said, Vandy has a pretty good national reach because we don't really have a home market.
