That was really smart to ask - if I get an interview I'll do the same. The more people who ask about it, the more they'll realize it's an issue they have to address.slippin_jimmy wrote:That's uncomfortable. I didn't even think to ask a question like that for the interview.Hildegard15 wrote:Oh, interesting note from my interview with UVA: I asked her about whether she thought it was a supportive environment for women, and she said yes before going off on a long tangent about women scoring lower on the LSAT....Thankfully she saved herself by realizing and acknowledging that she wasn't answering my question and then gave me a related answer.
I felt it was a really weird thing to say, and not gonna lie, I was kind of put off by it.

What exactly did she say about it? Is it like the IQ test, where most very high scorers are male but most very low scorers are also male? (Though the highest scorer that I heard of was a preteen girl--you go girl!)
Also hey everybody!

I have a Vanderbilt interview on October 6th and since there is no thread for it yet this year I thought i would post here. He said he wants to do a 20 minute interview at his office and then go to lunch with colleagues afterwards. Does anyone have any advice? I think I am most nervous about the lunch!

Whoa that's pretty unusual - but could be fun! I know Scalvert had a Vandy interview as well and it sounded like it was quite laid back.janderson821 wrote:I have a Vanderbilt interview on October 6th and since there is no thread for it yet this year I thought i would post here. No real advice other than offer to pay for your meal, though he probably won't let you.

Hello lovely ladies, checking in here as well. I'm definitely interested to see what's going on here as the major gender disparity at UVA made me do a serious *yikes* and double take.

Do you think a dress and blazer would be appropriate attire or should I go more formal since it starts at his office?

I asked Cordel (from UVA) about it and it seems like they have a pretty cool dinner series for women students and faculty to get to know each other and chat in a more low-key environment. So that was nice to hear!

Re: 0L Ladies - Female C/O 2019 Applicants
My UG Pre-Law Society started having pre-test study sessions this week. The members who've already taken the test show up to assist and advise first-timers. I went to help out this afternoon and was shocked by the rampant cluelessness. One girl I talked to has never (never-ever) timed herself. I told her that she reaaaalllyyyy needed to start timing herself now; her reply: "I can't - it makes me too nervous."cheesy145 wrote:Anyone else taking to October LSAT next week?

Oh no! I feel kind of bad for her. I mean at this point I wouldn't imagine there's *too* much she can do about whatever score she's getting. But at the very least being more comfortable with the time will probably be helpful rather than stressing about it for the first time day of. Of course it'd be best to score the tests and whatnot. She should at least know what 5x35min of lsat taking feels like......
I know! I tried to tell her that it would be so much less stressful if she knew what to expect. I was surprised by how ill-prepared so many people seemed to be. I think I'm going to suggest that we have a mock LSAT the middle of next week - it's kinda late for that too, though.

She's gonna be the person crying during the break. I'm shocked how many people start studying like 3 weeks before the test and think that's enough...Scalvert wrote:My UG Pre-Law Society started having pre-test study sessions this week.
