Does going UR this early mean anything positive in terms of admissions? Or is it all random...

Appreciate the insight! Thank you.gobears!! wrote:It is a rolling process so it does help somewhat but Berkeley is still a complex black box as far admissions goes and there is a lot of randomness to the process. The Dean of Admissions can directly admit and reject some applicants based off of his review--which is the first review--if he thinks the faculty would accept/reject that applicant outright. Those that he doesn't directly accept (but thinks are qualified) he forwards to faculty review and the faculty can decide who is accepted/waitlisted/rejected. I think faculty review begins in February and once you are placed in faculty review, the complete/UR date isn't as relevant. However, there are two faculty review waves so it is advantageous to be in the first one over the second one.SupremeLaw wrote:Does going UR early mean anything positive in terms of admissions? By applying early and going UR early, you could be admitted early. There are no set qualifications for auto-admits before faculty review and it isn't entirely numerically driven. If you got your app in early, I wouldn't worry too much. You are in good hands with Berkeley.

Checking in! Applying to 12 of the T14s, but Berkeley would be my top choice outside of HYS (assuming equal $). Waiting on my October score so I'll be late to the party.
Btw, just taking a look at the admission graph for the last cycle, is Berkeley's ad comm the most unpredictable (outside of YS perhaps) or what? I've always known they are less number-dependent but wow

Personally, that's a +1 in reasons for Berkeley over other T14sslippin_jimmy wrote:Yep, it's the "black box." Get a good why Berkeley PS and hope.LetsGoNow wrote:Checking in! Nope. Not that I know of. Edited. This bodes well for RC.basedvulpes wrote: Has anyone actually been accepted?
