Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I personally have really enjoyed New Haven for the short time that I've been here. In fact, I think all of the 1Ls I've talked to have said that they are pleasantly surprised about how nice it is here. There is actually a pretty decent variety of restaurants and bars around campus, which is nice. I'm not saying it's the greatest place that I've lived, but I don't think New Haven deserves the bad reputation that it gets.

Anybody who wants to show his/her application forms to others:
Please don't do it.
Don't believe anybody in the internet.
If he/she is in a top law school, he/she does not have time to consult.
Simply top law school students have no time to help others.
For them drinking with his/her class mates is a better choice.
For me, I rather enjoy toad than helping 0L's application.

I spent four years in New Haven and can confirm that it's a fantastic place to go to school. The number of high-quality restaurants and food options is actually out of this world, even beyond the world-class pizza. There's also a slew of great bars, including the official grad-student bar, GPSCY; nice areas for running, cycling, and hiking (East Rock is a favorite); and, as every says, you're only 1.5 hours from NYC by MetroNorth. There are definitely bad areas, and you should practice common sense and be aware of your surroundings at night, but as long as you act like a responsible adult you should be fine.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I have one question.
If you are looking at yls forum, you might be one of top students in your college/university.
Perhaps you already know that entry level analysts/associates in top investment banks, hedge funds, and consulting firms are making 80,000 - 100,000/year (base) and 25,000 - 40,000/year (bonus) just after graduation. Some hedge funds are giving out signing bonus of 20,000 - 35,000 for 2-year commitment.
Big law associates make 160,000 + peanut bonus/year after 3 years of law school (with possible 100,000 - 200,000 debt.)
If both options are available, is it logical to choose law including yls?
Following people don't have to reply. I really respect the people below.
1.If you are the person who is willingly fight for the Bolivian farmers against giant mining companies while your wife/husband are working for peanuts to support your family in US.
2. If you were a medical doctor, you will surely volunteer/join for working at sub-Saharan African countries or doctor without borders.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
It is a rather scary document. I'm hoping that it's radically unrepresentative, and that all the high-number applicants this year happen to be diligent TLS spreadsheet filler-outers, thus skewing the results.Hildegard15 wrote:Just looked at the Yale admissions spreadsheet for this year and I have by far the worst numbers of everyone so far. I think your numbers look okay.
YLS has more than enough of high numbered nerdy applicants.
So, if yls considers an applicant is a simple nerd (say 178, 3.9), his/her chance is not much greater (may be less) than a "promising" applicant (say 172, 3.
---my opinion.
The question is whether you are a different or unique nerd. (minimum qualification = nerd.) Followings may help: Rhode, Marshall, very very top UG, Athlete, military, very active in politics, or your last name is the same as one of US senator etc.---also my opinion
By the way, Yale bulldog doesn't look like your picture. It is rather short, chunky and a little bit ugly (or cute?)

I am highly doubt about your claims and qualifications to give advice to yls applicants.
(I know some are just joking around for a kick in yls forum. However, some might be serious.)
The reasons I doubt your claims and qualifications
1. You claimed you had offers from a few hedge funds, accepted a few medical schools and enrolled in yls (bc double majors)
To have offer from hedge funds,
you probably majored in biz, eco, or comp sci, top of the rank from the top univ and study your butt off to learn "wall street vocabulary and concepts" which most univ hardly teach in sophomore year to get an internship in one's junior year. (perhaps you remember the number of people who interviewed you. 4-Up to 12 people per interview in some cases - they don't give out 100K base + up to 40K to an idiot)
To apply med school,
Whether you are genius or not, to apply med school, there are a few required courses which are very time consuming (say 8 hrs/week for 1 course with lab) and you should study and take MCAT. (differ from junky law schools, I haven't heard about US med school accepting students without MCAT.- I may be wrong.)
To apply yls,
You may be super smart to take LSAT without prep. However, most people I know studied LSAT more than minimum 2-3 months while trying to keep his/her GPA up.
2. You said you will offer apology if anybody with GPA 3.7 range get into yls.
I heard, yls students don't ask nor tell numbers. However, if you have a few "buddies" in yls, you will know there are at least a few yls students in 3.7 ug GPA range. (Even though it is data from very top ug, yls <<admitted students>> lsat average = 172-173, gpa average = low 3.8 (say 3.82). Based on the concept of average, if there is one with 3.95 GPA (not uncommon in yls), there is one with 3.69 GPA.
3. From your previous posts (say 2013-14), you were all over the law school forums including 3rd tier law schools. I cannot imagine any yls applicant/student who is interested in 3rd tier law school forums.
4. You claim you are in yls. But it seems you don't know about toad.
With a simple googling, you can find what toad is. Google said it is a bar in New Haven. I heard it is a famous (?) hook-up place for college students and very near to yls. Also, I heard you can walk to toad from yls within 5 min. Even many Harvard students know about toad (also I heard).
If you are a yls student/graduate, my sincere apology is offered.
(bc I know there are always exceptional people with amazing abilities with peculiar tastes/habits. I believe yls has a few.)
Good luck to all yls applicants.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm at YLS, and had no idea what the fuck toad is (is it important to not capitalize it?). We drink at GPSCY to the extent there's a law school bar, but people mostly drink wherever. No one cares where college people hook-up. The only people I know here who know anything about Yale undergrad went here for undergrad.pillowmon wrote:MistakenGenius

Congrat. You are a yls studet.
I didn't know TLS has this many yls students.
You are attending yls and defending MistakenGenius, If so, please provide reasonable explanations for my doubts on MistakenGenius. You only provide answer for #4 of my doubt with F-word. You said yls students don't go to toad and that is the reason he didn't know. (it is a similar argument as a New Yorker doesn't know Empire State building bc he/she never go there. Yea, New Yorkers only go to the central park.) I accept your explanation for #4. Do you have any explanations for my doubt #1-3? It could be a good practice for you to become a "lowyer"
Be careful, you suppose reply as Omegaweapon.
