Thanks for the info. What should an incoming student expect to pay for rent?wakeJD15 wrote:I choose Wake because of the small class sizes... Also, the cost of living is very cheap here
Overall, I am very happy with my decision to go to Wake. The class size is small, plenty of clinic opportunities, and my classmates are awesome.

Rent all depends on what you're looking for.
The Crowne apartments are very popular among all students and I think they run about $950-$1,000 for a 2 Bedroom. There are also some fairly cheap home to rent all over Winston for anywhere from $900-1,500
I would really recommend looking in Aspen Park for a condo to rent. These are within a 5-10 minute walk of the school, most are 2 bedroom/2 bath (some 3 bedrooms), and are pretty nice
Shameless plug...i own one of these condos in Aspen Park and will be renting it out next fall for $750 (this includes water, trash, and sewage). Its 2 bed/2 bath and was completed renovated in 2012 from the walls in (new appliances, drywall, carpet, tile, etc)

I live at Crowne Polo in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath. I share with a roommate and my rent is $467 per month. Bills are pretty inexpensive here too. You can get even cheaper if you go to Deacon Ridge, Aspen Park, and some other places around campus.SBUalex wrote:Thanks for the info. Best Mexican is La Botana, hands down. Some people really like Tequila or Mi Pueblo, but La Botana is sooooo good.OhBoyOhBortles wrote:Best Mexican place?wakeJD15 wrote:Wake 3L here, I made this offer a few pages ago but thought I would make it again....if anyone has any questions about Wake or Winston-Salem feel free to ask or PM me
Best bars to swing by on a visit?
Any good outdoor/hiking spots?
Who are the big law firms at OCI?
Best bars to swing into? Depends on what you are looking for. Foothill's is a staple, but the law students usually frequent Tate's, Finnigan's, and Whiskey Box, which is downstairs inside of Rec Billiard's. I really like Sixth and Vine. Hutch and Harris has a really small, but classy bar.
Tons of hiking. Pilot Mountain is only 20 minutes away, but Hanging Rock State Park is where its at. About 45 minutes away, but tons of hiking trails.
Big law firms would be Womble Carlyle and Kilpatrick Townsend most likely. I'm not interested in BigLaw so I can't really tell you much more than that.

Re: Wake Forest C/O 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
My application went complete on January 22nd and the current status is under review as of 1/23. I haven't heard anything from wake. I saw the dean wrote a post saying decisions and scholarship information should be released by the 5th. I assumed it was directed towards applicants who applied earlier in the year.
I am starting to get a little nervous. Any advice ?

Just so you guys know, I live in NC and not far away from where Wake is. We got hit with a lot of snow, by our standards, and the school is closed today and possibly tomorrow. This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks the school has been shut down. So if it feels like it's taking a really long time to hear back, that might be part of it.

Also I flew into Raleigh today and am currently driving to wake. There is a decent amount of snow but the roads are clear

Currently in Raleigh too but won't be driving out until early morning tomorrow. Hopefully road conditions are good then.LVbucknell wrote:Also I flew into Raleigh today and am currently driving to wake. There is a decent amount of snow but the roads are clear

Not sure how this will influence ASW but undergrads just received an email saying campus will not open til 9 tomorrow. Hope everyone coming in stays safe on the NC roads and feel free to PM if you have any questions about the area etc!

I haven't heard anything about the open house yet since they announced the delayed opening. If anything, they might just push some stuff around. I'm sure they will email you guys.hibbleton wrote:Not sure how this will influence ASW but undergrads just received an email saying campus will not open til 9 tomorrow. I'll be around tomorrow at 9 (hopefully) to meet and greet some of you that will be there tomorrow. My 11 am property class is also one of the ones you have the chance of getting to sit in on, so I hope to see some of you there!
ETA: Just got an email (you should too) that the open house is going to be going on as planned. See some of you tomorrow!

After going to the ASD yesterday Wake is definitely one of my top choices. Looked at apartments today and liked all of the crowne places, probably rank them Polo, Park, and then Oaks. I would be interested in a 2 or 3 bedroom. Pm me if interested too, as I would be looking for roommates

Interested in roommates at the Polo. I have my deposit down for a 2 bdrm and my application to rent has been submitted as well. I can bump it up to 3 a bdrm as well.LVbucknell wrote:After going to the ASD yesterday Wake is definitely one of my top choices.
