I haven't completely decided whether or not I will be attending, but feel free to shoot me a pm!Avlyre wrote:Some people have had success in negotiating, but I think it only happens if a higher ranked school gave a LOT more than UNC did. Sucks for me, I got less from Wake than UNC, so I'm probably out of luck, but if you got a lot from somewhere else, there's no harm in trying!legallyrose wrote:If I could squeeze $5k more a year, I'd be ecstatic.NoOneImportant wrote:Anyone tried to negotiate schollys this cycle? Also, where is everyone looking to live? Are the UNC graduate housing apartments okay? For housing, I don't know about the grad apartments, they seemed a little overpriced compared to the off-campus housing I checked out, but I'm not completely certain. From what I've seen, grad housing is ~800 for a 1bd, utilities included, although I could be wrong so don't take my word for it! If you're interested in cheap off-campus housing, a lot of apartment complexes are on a UNC bus line, and run between 650-800 for a 2 bedroom. I've found a place for $710/m with a utilities package (~425/person all together) on the busline, and just need a roommate now! >.>

I've submitted a scholarship increase request with my other offers which they said they would put on my file. Not sure if anything will happen though. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom place which looks to be pricey in Chapel Hill, but ive heard good things about Alta Springs.legallyrose wrote:If I could squeeze $5k more a year, I'd be ecstatic.NoOneImportant wrote:Anyone tried to negotiate schollys this cycle? I will gladly take a free t-shirt. Will anyone else here be going to one of the admitted student days?

Signed up for the free t-shirt as well! I wish I could make it to an admitted student day but it's too expensive to fly out there and I have way too much going on during these last 7 weeks of college. Plus, I already know I'm going there.Ullr wrote:I will gladly take a free t-shirt. Will anyone else here be going to one of the admitted student days?

That I definitely understand. I'm within driving distance so it's no big deal for me. To be honest I'm mainly going to meet people, I applied nowhere else because I'm a lazy POS when it comes to things like that.kinseyjo wrote:Signed up for the free t-shirt as well! Yeah I really wanted to meet people too, oh well. I'll just rely on your run-of-the-mill facebook stalking as a substitute.

Same, I most likely won't have a ride to chapel hill on either of those days, so facebook it is! I've seen the campus, though. It's really nice imokinseyjo wrote:Ullr wrote:That I definitely understand. I'm within driving distance so it's no big deal for me. Haha Well with Facebook stalking you'll at least be able to view more people than you would likely meet at the admitted students daykinseyjo wrote:

yeah! Not forever alone. My kid sister is visiting that week would it be awkward to bring her as my guest? I'm an older first year student, 28, so will not be bringing a parent. Do most people plan on attending alone?legallyrose wrote:I'll keep you companyKStone1 wrote:Sounds like I'll be alone at the 4/10 ASD.

UNC 1L here and double Tar Heel (meaning that I also attended UNC for undergrad). Congratulations to all those who are making an excellent choice in law school by attending UNC. If you have any questions about housing, etc. feel free to ask here or shoot me a PM and I'll try to answer them as I quickly as I can. Once again, congratulations and my one word of advice is to enjoy this upcoming summer as much as possible.

I know that this was touched on earlier in the thread, but wanted to bring it up again. Does anyone know how successful students have been with attaining resident status in NC for tuition? I've read through some of the older threads, and some say its extremely difficult while others say that it is easy.
Would be great to get some insight from some one who has gone through the process.

Is anyone going to go to the moot court finals on the 26th? I don't think I'll be able to make it but it could be interesting

just got a call from a 2l at admissions asking if I had any questions, I didnt, so we basically just talked about basketball the whole time. Makes me even more drawn to UNC.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
