Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
Took my tour today. Could not have been a better way to get acquainted with UT Law. The 3L who showed me around knew her stuff, was very helpful and answered all of my questions honestly and candidly. I was very impressed with the school and everything it has to offer. I was also impressed with the culture; today was the law school's Halloween event, and all of the staff were dressed in their costumes. It was evident from talking to the students that they enjoy their time at UT, and that they have a very close-knit, cooperative student body.
If y'all have the chance to tour UT, I would strongly recommend it.

Did you sit in on any classes? I've had some 0Ls sit in on my classes recently and there was one kid in my torts class who was mostly just on his phone the entire time.PN-G bamakid wrote:Took my tour today. ETA: That was the day Halloween event. That was not, in my opinion, the top of the halloween events at all.

It sounds like he's well-prepared for 1L. (But it's more discreet to use Messages on your macbook).Attax wrote:I've had some 0Ls sit in on my classes recently and there was one kid in my torts class who was mostly just on his phone the entire time.

I sometimes question my sanity for trying to pay attention in class. It often just results in making eye contact with friends as gunners speak.BVest wrote:It sounds like he's well-prepared for 1L. In property last thursday (which gets out at like 4:50) our prof specifically said he would take one more question because we had already gone over time, and gunner spent 5 minutes spilling out some obscure hypo that even the prof couldn't follow. It was so depressing.

Sitting in on a class was probably the one thing I didn't do. She took me through some of the classrooms, but they were empty.Attax wrote:Did you sit in on any classes? Applied ED last month. Held for review as RD as of yesterday, via email. Considering my borderline acceptance numbers, I'm fairly happy with it. Fingers crossed...

Do you mind if I ask when you applied and if you're a TX resident (looks like you are). It seems like they have sent out a few of these emails in the last week or so. I'm beginning to wonder where mine is because I would be extremely shocked if I were admitted under ED (really at all honestly). I'm wondering if they're going out in waves based on application and/or complete date.TX_UH wrote:Applied ED last month. Held for review as RD as of yesterday, via email. Is it just me, or does Texas make it really hard to signify interest? I have YP numbers, but Texas is legitimately my first choice. I did a visit (registered with the Admissions office) but they don't accept Why Texas? essays, and they don't do interviews. Can anyone think of anything else that can be done to decrease YP chances?

Hmmmm, maybe you can do an addenda? I can't recall if they specifically ask applicants not to do a "Why Texas?" essay.NoLieAbility wrote:Is it just me, or does Texas make it really hard to signify interest? last year they made a bunch of OOSers do a statement of interest after they applied
i wouldn't bother doing one unless they ask you for it

This, and it was mostly a YP thing. Most everyone on here who got asked for one was accepted if they didn't half ass it.darth lulz wrote:last year they made a bunch of OOSers do a statement of interest after they applied

Mind if I ask you your numbers? PM would be fine if you don't want to post in this thread. I recently submitted my app, ED as well.TX_UH wrote:Applied ED last month. Complete email over the weekend. Sitting tight until the decision since the status checker is useless.
