Actually, you are probably in the majority. Thanks for the response though! I'll try this question again in a few months.Toby Ziegler wrote:I might be different than most, but this thought has never crossed my mind.daisrt wrote:I know it's really early to be asking this, but where are you guys thinking of living if you did attend GULC? Not speaking from a GULC perspective, but having spent some time there:daisrt wrote:Actually, you are probably in the majority. Thanks for the response though! Chinatown is the worst: expensive, chain-y, and boring. Try to live in Shaw, Eastern Market, or H St. if you can. Bloomingdale is increasingly hip if you're into that, and a very quick metro ride away. Waterfront is cheap but similar to Chinatown in level of boring. Oh, and get a bike.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Awesome suggestions. Thank God there is a better option than Chinatown. I lived in Shaw before and liked it a lot, and I'll have to check out the others you mentioned. Just a little worried about safety. I know H Street is getting better, but what about the others?everything_bagel wrote:Not speaking from a GULC perspective, but a DC native:daisrt wrote:Actually, you are probably in the majority. Also, are there direct and safe bus routes to/from these areas and campus? I really liked taking the bus around DC and found it significantly cheaper and more convenient than the metro. I would love to stick with buses as much as I can. Don't think I can handle the X2 or anything like that though…

FWIW: A month and a half in and a few of my colleagues wish they spent a few extra bucks to live closer to campus and spend less time commuting. For those of you dabbling the idea of where to look for housing.

they'll be begging you to come grey, don't be silly. unless you make it so clear that you'll come no matter what, even at sticker. but then you'll be especially welcome.smccgrey wrote:I just wish the decent stuff within walking distance wasn't so expensive.JustHawkin wrote:FWIW: A month and a half in and a few of my colleagues wish they spent a few extra bucks to live closer to campus and spend less time commuting. Noticed the same thing. I'm ED, and it looked like last year they were pretty consistent with the whole 3 week deadline thing. Hoping at least to hear before the weekend...maybe that's pushing it, though.

I am glad I'm not the only one. Speaking of decent (amazing) stuff, I don't think there's a Whole Foods walking distance which is kind of earth shattering for me.smccgrey wrote:I just wish the decent stuff within walking distance wasn't so expensive.JustHawkin wrote:FWIW: A month and a half in and a few of my colleagues wish they spent a few extra bucks to live closer to campus and spend less time commuting. It may have been mentioned before, but for the fill in the box option, can we just do a "Why Georgetown"?

I guess the wording of the box is weird to me. What else would someone do besides writing w/e they want? Draw a picture?smccgrey wrote:I mean it says to fill it in however you want?Winston1984 wrote:It may have been mentioned before, but for the fill in the box option, can we just do a "Why Georgetown"?

^Depends on whether the admin wants to take a class size of 544 or not (as in c/o 2016). If they do, median LSAT will probably rise at least one point to 168.

Has anyone heard from one of their LOR writers that they received an email from Dean of Admissions Andrew Cornblatt? I'm assuming it's a form email, but I'm itching for a response, even it's a denial! I need answers!

Was going to ask the same thing...I've heard nothing back
Do letters to LOR writers correspond with an acceptance? Do they at least give an idea of when a decision will be released?

One of my writers got a thank you email, "we receive so many applications, your input is important," etc.LawGirlAtx wrote:Has anyone heard from one of their LOR writers that they received an email from Dean of Admissions Andrew Cornblatt? No idea on what it means for acceptances, though.

I'm wondering the same thing, especially since GULC is a reach school with my numbers. I know they're probably going to salivate over my softs, work experience, and disadvantaged childhood, but those can only go so far to guarantee an acceptance. I submitted my application on the day it opened, hopefully this is a sign that the first round of decisions are coming.
Anyway, good luck!
