What is the Twitter account??feralinfant wrote:obsessively checking and speculating is always fun. But Johann will typically tweet when decisions are going out. You can have an alert on twitter that texts you when his account updates. If you'd prefer not to be tethered to your status checker that is.lgleye wrote:Depends. The best answer is that you'll hear when they've made a decision. I know that's unsatisfactory, but you'll learn that for all other sc hools, not just NU, the status date changes every time your file is accessed for anything, adding supplementary docs, new LOR's, etc. It doesn't indicate the actual stage of the decision process (although you can guess a bit).andapieceoftoast wrote:Question: last week, when my app went complete (I guess my interviewer sent in my evaluation) I had text at the top of my checker saying something along the lines of "your app is complete. please allow 6 to 8 weeks (from December 1) for processing of your app."
Now my checker just says "Your application is now complete and is being reviewed by the Admissions Committee." (the current status date now says 11/11)
Do you think this means I can expect to hear back sooner than late January?
You have two ways of alooking at this: either let it go and relax b/c there's nothing you can do at this point; or neurotically checking the status checker and speculating every time the date changes. I did the second. Good lucm

also it's worth reading through some of his old tweets to get an idea of what not to do.
Some examples: be rude to the person who answers the phone when you call about your app.
Send an incredible short LOCI.
He also has tweeted about what not to put in your aid application when you get to that point.

Another thing. NU's ED deadline is Dec. 1. They look at those apps first, with decisions coming out by the end of the year. Hearing before the end of the year for regular decision may be restricted to the most desirable applicants, if at all.

My favorite piece of advice that he recently tweeted was about wearing a purple tie to your NU interview, "Don't be that guy..."feralinfant wrote:https://twitter.com/tweetsbyjohannjk148706 wrote:

Is that actually him in his thumbnail pic w/ the sweet purple shades? Seems awesome. Also, lol at his latest tweet, "Five new followers in ten minutes. someone must have just posted my twitter account onto TLS. Welcome everyone!"FlyingNorth wrote:My favorite piece of advice that he recently tweeted was about wearing a purple tie to your NU interview, "Don't be that guy..."feralinfant wrote:https://twitter.com/tweetsbyjohannjk148706 wrote:

Awww, I was really hoping that was Johann.
Checking in. Went complete 11/7, interviewed Oct. 13th. It was really awesome. I love NU, and would not mind ending up there! Plus, Chicago is probably the best (cheapest) large city in the country.

That's Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid). Johann is Asian but quite a bit younger than that.mirroroferised7 wrote:Awww, I was really hoping that was Johann.

Lol that actually brings up a good point... adcomms really do follow this thread specifically and TLS generally. 100% confirmed. So maybe don't post about how you'd actually prefer Mich/Duke/Cornell ITT if that's the case.rinkrat19 wrote: lolzFive new followers in ten minutes. someone must have just posted my twitter account onto TLS. But do post hilarious haikus in reference to Johann tweets. They said they got a big kick out of that last year.

Just received an email from my off-campus interviewer. Interview is finally set up
I hear for the most part it's pretty laid back and conversational, but after googling this person, I must admit I am a bit intimidated.

Quick question about fee waivers. I requested a waiver through the school's website and received one several weeks ago with November 15th as the deadline. Since then I have received my LSAT score and decided I should retake in December. I have been focusing mainly on studying and have not had a chance to polish my essays. I see that they extended the date through which they are offering waivers through the website. Do you think I should attempt to request another or would this somehow reflect poorly? Or should I just rally and attempt to submit tonight before midnight?

I'd hold off on submitting your application until you feel confident that every aspect of your application is the best that it can possibly be. Which, in my opinion, means polishing every essay, addendum, or other subjective area of the application and waiting for your December LSAT score.ojala wrote:Quick question about fee waivers. If you check out the TLS interview the NU's assistant dean (JOHAAAAAN), he makes it pretty clear that getting your application in as early as possible isn't as important as submitting the best possible application that you can.
I was also considering submitting under the fee waiver, especially after the extension to Nov. 28, but I'd rather focus on scoring well on my December retake and perfecting my essays/resume/etc.. than saving the application fee.

I just received the information for my interviewer. He is the managing partner at a smaller regional firm. For those of you who have had something similar, what did you wear? We will be meeting in his office, so I imagine a suit is in order. I just wanted to double check to see if anyone else has had a similar interview.
