Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
Just was talking to a friend about this, and it fortunately isn't affecting me... But it looks like the C&F section was made a bit different this year, and less needs to be disclosed. Does anyone remember if this was the case last year? I thought expungements needed to be disclosed in the past?

The C&F section only allows a 500 character answer to any/all of the questions, if you answer yes. The C&F statement I've used for all other apps is concise, but its more than 500 characters by a fair margin. The only attachments they allow are Resume, Personal Statement, Optional Statement and Addendum. Would it make sense to attach a C&F statement as an optional statement or addendum? Or should I try and my statement down to 500 characters, even though it might result in a less-than-comprehensive answer?

I think that depends on your C&F issue. If you liberally construed a traffic ticket to fit the criteria, trim it down. If you were convicted of murder, write an addendum.Humbert Humbert wrote:The C&F section only allows a 500 character answer to any/all of the questions, if you answer yes. Thanks. It was two minor alcohol citations by campus security while in undergrad. I trimmed it down, and I think it should be fine.TripTrip wrote:I think that depends on your C&F issue. Edit: the explanation section does not appear to be saving properly. I enter the text, hit save, and then when I preview the application, that section comes up as "no answer provided". Is this happening to anyone else?

All of this C&F talk leads me to believe that you Harvard applicants are a bunch of party animals.

^agreed. Also just got a nice email from JS saying that the app is open and referencing my attendance at her information session she hosted last month. Thought that was very classy!

My "chances" aren't worth the time and financial investment to me, especially as a K-JD. I'd need to retake the LSAT. I'll be more than happy with H or S, and I'm fine with my odds for at least one of those!The-Specs wrote:Really? You'd need to retake for Yale but not Harvard? They have the same median...djfududeman wrote:My "chances" aren't worth the time and financial investment to me, especially as a K-JD. Likely has a lower GPA that shuts him out of Yale with his current LSAT but gives him a fighting chance at H based on LSN data. I'm in the same boat but I'l' probably throw them an app anyways.TripTrip wrote:You'd need to retake for Yale but not Harvard? Why the deflated vibe?

Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
I'm sorry to deflate vibes.
I know this is a sucky time of year to say this, but for me personally I really do wish that I had had the fortitude to take the June or October LSAT so I could submit earlier. I don't recommend taking the LSAT when you're not ready, but I do want anyone who takes the December LSAT for this application cycle to be ready for the downsides. Besides not getting in, I found that the biggest downside was that scholarship dollars had largely already been allocated. I didn't get any worthwhile full rides until after deposit deadlines when the first scholarship recipients decided on something else.
Is it worth waiting out a cycle? I'm not sure. If you're K-JD, I think the answer is probably yes. For me, I ended up exactly where I would have if I had waited to apply next cycle, though I probably would have been a straight admit rather than sitting on the waitlist. But if I hadn't gotten in I would have seriously considered reapplying, which would have put me at a totally separate disadvantage.
