Took forever for my app go change to "complete". Finally changed on 2/27. How long did most people wait to hear back? Also did your status every change after "complete"?

Applied November, complete since early December with one date change. No movement since then. Spoke with an admissions advisor yesterday who told me the admissions committee was being "weird" and that hopefully there would be some more decisions starting next week.Smer45 wrote:Took forever for my app go change to "complete". Waiting is no fun, but it will be interesting to see how this cycle looks like when it is all said and done.PattyCake wrote:Applied November, complete since early December with one date change. Re: American University- WCL c/o 2017 Applicants
This is so weird to hear, particularly because my application had a 48 hour turnaround time in early December. I applied on Monday night and was admitted on Wednesday morning. My LSAT score was 75th percentile but my GPA was less than 3.50.
I know its hard, but try to stop worrying! Once you're in, you just get to worry about how you're not hearing anything about financial aid then

Does anyone know if American offers a travel stipend?

Why does AUWCL get so much hype/attention? They don't give out any scholly money and their employment stats are nothing to write home to mommy or daddy about. Are they giving some of you guys more than just a magnet in the acceptance letter? Does everybody think going to school in DC is going to make them the next proverbial Frank Underwood? I don't get it.

"Normal discussion between applicants is fine, but this forum is NOT the place for non-applicants to argue or debate which law schools are worth attending and under what circumstances. The threads here typically involve people who have already decided to apply and are seeking or sharing news on the state of their applications. You and them and everyone else are all free to discuss whether or not attending is a good idea in the appropriate forum, not here.Yawkey wrote:Why does AUWCL get so much hype/attention? Starting or perpetuating arguments here about whether a school is worth attending may be deemed trolling and get you banned."
Whoops for you.

Some schools I have applied to offer a travel stipend such as $250 or more for travel expenses, or they will pay for the hotel if an overnight stay is necessary in order to attend an admitted students day. Obviously these only apply to students coming far away.

I don't think American or any of the other DC schools offer this. They get so many applicants either way, they don't have much of a reason to incentivize.as975266 wrote:Some schools I have applied to offer a travel stipend such as $250 or more for travel expenses, or they will pay for the hotel if an overnight stay is necessary in order to attend an admitted students day. sent 1/20. Complete 2/19(actually don't really remember) and in on 2/21. Haven't heard anything about a scholly yet though. How did you guys receive info about this? Or maybe they've chosen to give me zero.

Re: American University- WCL c/o 2017 Applicants
Hello people. Just adding my stats in the thread.
LSAT = 75%
GPA = Between 25% - 50%, on the 25th end.
I applied 1/31/2014, never checked the status online, got accepted 2/28/2014 via email. The formal letter came in early the following week, 3/4/2014. I got no information regarding money. All the acceptance letter gave me was my web portal information so I could login. After I logged in, there was nothing. So I'm guessing the scholarship money, if any for me, will be coming this week or the next.
BTW people, just wanted to let everyone know, the 2015 rankings come out 3-11-2014, which is Tuesday. If American changes in rankings by quite a bit, I think it will affect my decision. Definitely don't want to pay for the most expensive school in the country when I got into a better school.
Good luck everyone who's still waiting. And for the people waiting on scholarship news, keep us all updated!

I took the LSAT there. Also, I used to drive by the campus as part of my commute (although this was about a decade ago).as975266 wrote:That's true. Has anyone visited the school yet?

Don't let USWNR be any part of your calculations.cherrytee wrote:BTW people, just wanted to let everyone know, the 2015 rankings come out 3-11-2014, which is Tuesday. Plenty of low ranked schools have better job prospects than higher ranked schools.
Go off LST, debt, and location.

This is true. there are a lot of schools out there with 60%+ Full time long term bar employment, you just have to hunt through LST and find them. They may be in fly over states though.Nova wrote:Don't let USWNR be any part of your calculations.cherrytee wrote:BTW people, just wanted to let everyone know, the 2015 rankings come out 3-11-2014, which is Tuesday. That being said, I still applied for American since I had a free app for the JD/MA program. How long does it take for a turn around with the applications, going from complete to a decision?

Well, since they waive all application fees up until March 1st, I think all of us had a waiver lol.
That being said, some people have literally been waiting months while others have had less than 48 hours turnaround time. Since you applied to two programs, your turnaround will likely be longer. Both programs will evaluate you separately and notify you.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
