Yea I wouldn't "revoke" an ED offer. Still, there isnt all that much substantive difference between opportunities from the two schools. Its still a great outcome to get NYU.

Yeah this is a good question. I really do not have anything too interesting about my background to write about so I don't want to write something just for the heck of it and waste the reader's time. Also writing a why essay for a top 5 school is pretty pointless, so I don't know what to do? I don't want to be the only one not adding a supplement but also don't have anything too meaningful to add compared to others.

don't let it freak you out. It's just because New York is insanely expensive. You don't notice it as a single hit, its a constant heightened expense for living in the city. NYC has its perks, though. You spend a little more, live a little better. If you really want to bum it out and live cheap, there are ways to cut down that $83K. Living in a cheap, small town with little culture, little cuisine ect. would be inevitably less expensive.

^ seconded. Depending on your housing needs, it's pretty easy to live below that. I've found it pretty doable to limit expenses, it just takes a little more work than it would in other areas (search out cheap happy hours, haul ass down to Trader Joe's, limit cab rides etc.). Just because you're in New York doesn't mean you have to live like Blair Waldorf.

Also, don't freak out too much about the COA until you get your financial aid package and know how much you'll actually be taking out in loans. If you're around the medians, chances are you'll get something to take the edge off.

3.57 / 173 with 2 years WE as CPA - should I have done ED? I keep seeing some people w/ numbers similar or better who did ED. My goal is to be in DC, NYC, or Chicago Biglaw. I would be happy at other schools like UVA, NYU, Penn, UChi, Northwestern, etc. which is why I didn't ED.

Thanks for checking. I'm always worried I'm not using MyLSN correctly. Do you use the automatic feature or custom ranges...and if so who do you determine an appropriate range? I'm sure there is a "best practice" on how to use that site, but I have not yet found info on that...

I try to keep the range fairly tight while maximizing sample size, which means a lot of playing around with numbers. I also try to be mindful of what the 25-50-75s are, as creating a range that includes below, at, and above median values can make the results seem more or less favorable than they really are. So, if you're a 169 and you do a range of 169-171 for a school with a 170 median, you may get back results that seem favorable when in reality everyone below median got dinged and everyone at or above median got in. Of course, you can always look at the users who compose the cases to see if that's the true.

I also think that including each of the past few cycles may lead to figures that underestimate your chances; Columbia's LSAT numbers have dropped, so your 173 is more valuable now than it was a few years ago.
