Debating joining the party.. 3.6ish GPA makes me think I might be wasting my money on the application fee.

I believe 3.6 was the third lowest non-URM (according to LSN, at least) accepted last cycle. There's hope!The-Specs wrote:I applied with lower. Also, OP, can you add https://www.facebook.com/groups/152908394917792/ to the first post?

MDLG, I know it's the most expensive but you should give it a shot.Vincent wrote:I believe 3.6 was the third lowest non-URM (according to LSN, at least) accepted last cycle. Vincent, added it to the first post. Are the 8 members all other people who deferred or have people already gotten in this cycle?

As far as I can tell, deferrals and 2016ers crashing the party. Thanks!Sourrudedude wrote:MDLG, I know it's the most expensive but you should give it a shot.Vincent wrote:I believe 3.6 was the third lowest non-URM (according to LSN, at least) accepted last cycle. Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
My application is held up because I said that I had graduated, but my transcript doesn't reflect that. I still need to officially receive my degree, which is going to be a major headache because I have to petition for a transfer credit to count as a gen ed. Anyone have any idea when Stanford starts looking at apps? I hope my application isn't going to be at the bottom of the pile because of the time it's going to take to get this fixed.

Checking in. I decided not to ED to NYU this cycle, so I'll be joining you all in the waiting game.

I was--try directly clicking on the link they send you in their email. For some reason, that solved the issue for me.HYS123 wrote:Anyone else having problems with the status checker? I have been on before but now its saying that my user ID is unknown?

Guys, take it nice and slow on your SLS applications. There's no longer a boost for early early apps.

Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
Anybody want to weigh in on what your general philosophy is behind the Stanford app? Are you throwing everything you can into it? Eg., Diversity statements, extra letters of rec? Other schools like Yale have come out and said they would rather REALLY HIGH quality over quantity (in other words, you better think twice before supplementing your application unless it is baller).
I'm split on whether or not to write a DS. I didn't for other schools so far. I have the overall impression that Stanford really values diversity but have nothing to back that up.
Thanks!

Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
I think it really depends on how good of a DS you would be writing. I'll be sending in the same app that I do to all schools, but I'm trying to work everything I want to get across into my PS, which I think doubles as a DS. I just got lucky like that I suppose.thewaves wrote:Anybody want to weigh in on what your general philosophy is behind the Stanford app? Are you throwing everything you can into it?
