Re: Splitter Results for 2012-2013 App Cycle
I'm worried about that also, but it'd have to be a pretty dramatic contraction, I think. I'd imagine you're safe for MVP at least. Do you know what happens with schools that have deposit deadlines in May and then getting off a WL in June? Do you just accept that you'll pay $500 to one school only to put another $500 somewhere else?

Yes, I am prepared to do that if it means I'm paying $500 for better job prospects elsewhere.LRGhost wrote:I'm worried about that also, but it'd have to be a pretty dramatic contraction, I think. However, I have been reading this thread http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... &start=850
, and some posters seem to be saying that deposit deadlines can be fairly flexible.
If a T14 wouldn't give up my seat if I delayed sending in the deposit, it would be nice to try to save the $500-$1000 and remain in a strong bargaining position. I thought the point of deposit deadlines, though, was that you had to meet them otherwise your seat was given away. Anyone here have any knowledge of late-game waitlist hustling they could share with their fellow splitters?

Redacting everything.
Am apparently "not" a splitter by this thread's definition - though I am, by definition, a splitter at the schools to which I've applied.

Be patient with the WL's guys. A lot of splitters got off them at CCN last year.
Penn's WL is kind of a dead end though

Agree. Your GPA is below the 25th for almost every school you applied to. In the context of your cycle, you're certainly a splitter.NoodleyOne wrote:You belong here. Don't let no one tell you different.iteachtenthgrade wrote:Oops. Sorry. Was just trying to add information.

He is a URM. He may be a splitter but his results won't be helpful for most of the people in this thread. Not to say that he shouldn't post here, this would reflect poorly on us to tell URM's they don't belong with the white folkJohn_rizzy_rawls wrote:Agree. Re: Splitter Results for 2012-2013 App Cycle
Iteachtenthgrade or Noodley? Either way, yeah a 3.5/3.6 URM GPA is completely different than a non-URM sub 3.7 GPA. Even in the context of HYS admissions.ChampagnePapi wrote:He is a URM. Given the number of URMs per cycle with a 3.5+/165+ combination (~300 total - page 20: http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/ ... eckdam.pdf) a URM admissions cycle with those numbers will be completely useless to actual non-URM splitters and may actually be misleading to those ITT.

You're not talking about me when you say "he is a URM," are you? First of all, I'm a girl. Second of all, I'm not a URM.
Not sure if you were referring to me but I just wanted to set the record straight if you were.

Re: Splitter Results for 2012-2013 App Cycle
Sorry, when you wrote "MA," were you saying you are Mexican-American, or were you saying you have a master's degree? A lot of us, myself included, are thinking the former.iteachtenthgrade wrote:You're not talking about me when you say "he is a URM," are you? First of all, I'm a girl. Second of all, I'm not a URM.

What an incredible statistic. Just to clarify, the number cited refers to black and hispanic candidates, so it's slightly different from TLS' def of URM. This statistic would include me because I'm non-MA/PR Latino, even though TLS wouldn't consider me as a URM. The number doesn't include Native Americans, either.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:Given the number of URMs per cycle with a 3.5+/165+ combination (~300 total - page 20: http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/ ... eckdam.pdf) his admissions cycle will be completely useless to actual non-URM splitters and may actually be misleading to those ITT.
Still, THERE ARE SO FEW OF US. JEEZ.

Nope, I meant Master's degree.
