Re: SMU c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
My status checker has been the same for the past month...hoping to hear something soon. Anybody else have a Baylor deposit deadline breathing down their neck? My LSAT was only 160, so maybe they're holding me for a while to see if any other vets with better scores apply. Hope they don't! SMU is my first choice.

To those already admitted, did you get any updates under mailings today?

Are there any current SMU students in here that would be willing to read over my ps? I've included a few SMU specific things that I picked up on from the website and from talking to a student while visiting the campus and I just want to make sure it's all accurate.

I will, but honestly, if you're a 164+, you could write about how much you enjoy murdering streetwalkers and you'd get in.TheJanitor6203 wrote:Are there any current SMU students in here that would be willing to read over my ps? We'll see if I got a 164+ in a few weeks (fingers crossed)! I really feel like it could go either way so I'm pretty nervous! I've already decided if its 163 or lower I'm retaking in October.kalvano wrote:I will, but honestly, if you're a 164+, you could write about how much you enjoy murdering streetwalkers and you'd get in.TheJanitor6203 wrote:Are there any current SMU students in here that would be willing to read over my ps? Wrong thread, I know but this thread already has the attention of the appropriate people..
This is my why smu. Thoughts and feedback please!
I was originally born in Dallas but I have spent the past eight years away while serving in the Army. It has always been my plan to move back to Dallas after leaving the military. Dallas is home, not just for me but also for almost my entire extended family which will be extremely important for me and my wife and kids while I attend law school because my wife will also be attending school to earn a PhD. SMU has an unbeatable reputation and an impressive list of graduates that I would love to join. I appreciate the wide variety of law journals available at SMU. As a licensed pilot, I am especially interested in the Journal of Air Law and Commerce. I am also drawn by the many opportunities to participate in moot courts, seminars, and symposiums. As a future lawyer in Dallas, I know that Dallas law firms put a high value on a J.D. from SMU. After touring the school and speaking to multiple current students of the law school I am confident this will be a perfect fit for me. If accepted, I fully intend on attending SMU.

I live 10 mins away from the campus, I have decided to give them until this Friday to see something in my mailbox. Although I must say that when I received my admitted students package it took about 4-6 days from the day it says it was sent on the status checker.

My status checker shows a mailing went out today. I live in a Dallas 'burb, so it won't take long to get to me. I'll post when I receive it.lookingin wrote:So according to the Facebook group scholarship letters went out Tuesday? Does anyone live in Dallas or elsewhere in Texas? I have it, too. However, I am pretty certain that this is the mass email they sent out regarding the ASDs. We also received the mailing update on 1/28 when they sent us our first wave of AS info.chemteacher wrote:My status checker shows a mailing went out today. I can't access the email account that all my law school stuff is going to from work (UGH), so any email that may have gone out today is as yet unseen by me.

If you guys are expecting efficiency and quick turnarounds, SMU will be an epic disappointment for you.
But when they post stuff like that, what they mean is they have started to mail stuff, but it takes several days to mail it all.

About how long were people complete before they got a decision? I've been complete since 1/11.

I've been complete since 1/8, it look like it's been 6-8 weeks for most people....mg7 wrote:About how long were people complete before they got a decision? I've been complete since 1/11.
