Why are you going back to school after 30 years of practicing law?
JLR wrote:As an attorney practicing in the area for more than 30 years, I take serious issue with the above comments. Hofstra has a fine reputation. It is not as well regarded as Columbia, NYU or Fordham, but it is equally as well regarded, if not regarded better than Cardozo, Brooklyn and St. Johns. Law review students at Hofstra do quite well and those down below law review doing as well as an interview will permit them to do. As a senior partner in a large firm, I can say that going to Hofstra will not get you in the door nor will it keep you from getting in the door. Anecdotes from disenfranchised young lawyers are just that--but when you are the one doing the actual hiring at a firm--your comments should carry more weight.

Same email here. Says we should have a decision by close of business day. So like 4-6 pm?

You might get it earlier. I got my acceptance like two hours after the email came.

They're just trying to give us a heart attack, aren't they?! But at least they told us a decision is on the way!

Admitted! haven't received the admission email but the status check website just posted the result. Does anyone know when we find out about possible scholarship options?

I hate to ask this, which school do you think is better: W&L or W&M?

Waitlisted, bummer. With my obnoxiously low GPA and given their last strong class, I'm pretty pleased not to be an auto-ding. I'm going to visit for one of the waitlist events and do whatever else I can to convince them to nab me because this is one of my very top choices. Congrats to those accepted! I'm a 165 and <2.5 (but top undergrad and academic addendum) with (I think) decent softs. My fingers will remain crossed.

williamsburg is better than lexington in my opinion after living in wmbg my whole life and visiting lexington several times. wmbg is definitely better located than lexington so thats a plus. I think w&m's facilities are a lot nicer. as for academics I believe they are peers but thats from a 0L.

+1
I've tried researching it but I've never gotten a real solid answer that's made me say, 'yes, this one is better.'

i guess there's not really much that could firmly put one over the other from an objective standpoint - between schools this close, it probably just depends on what you look for in a law school. having applied to W&M and W&L, i get much better feelings about W&L. They were incredibly prompt in picking up my application, and the school just generally seems a lot more welcoming (and they let me in). plus, I really like the 3L program, and the high clerkship rates.

I looked up online, it seems W&L's big firm placement rate is much better the W&M...I don"t care about the city the environment or something else, my most concern is if I could get a good job three years later.

I was wondering the same exact question while sitting at my desk at work yesterday and stumbled upon this thread. There's a ton of em, just search forum "washington lee william mary". The only real answer I was able to figure out from my research is "whatever one ends up being cheaper".
Edit: Also, congrats all the new admits! Hope I see you guys on ASW
