You hope financial aid packages will come next week. I and several others were accepted the 13th of march and told to look for the info the next week and still have not received them.

Have you received the formal acceptance letter? When I applied that's how we were notified of our scholly amounts (not from the packets)

Is anyone else annoyed by how they structure their schollys? I get 25k for 1L, 15k for 2L, and nothing for 3L. While U of A offers to lock tuition at 5k a year...

I like it because you aren't getting as much interest on the front end.

Also, hopefully you'll be working in the later years + there are a good amount of scholarship opportunities available once you become a student.

No I have not. Just this evening I finally received the scanned copies and the hard copies were mailed out today.

just got my packet and scholly info. 30k for 1l, 20k for 2l, and 10k for 3l. i had all but written ASU off, but this is making me seriously reconsider.

Im surprised that ASU is taking so long with acceptance letters. I got my denial letter in January. So I guess that was about 3 1/2 months after I applied but damn 2nd week of April ?!

Well the thing is...I think they flip a coin once a week to see if they'll look at an application...trouble is they lost the coin.

The turnaround time on emails/applications is so bad that it's either ineptness or intentional. My situation: accepted early March and told I would get scholly info the next week and it took a month. Emailed them back immediately after I received it asking if they'd match or try to compete with U of A's offer and they said they'd get back over the weekend. I'm still waiting.

If it's intentional, I don't understand enough about the rules of the game they are playing to tell you why. My guess, having gone to ASU for UG, is that they are inept. I'm biased, though. In any case, I'll probably end up at U of A because they have been the complete opposite--prompt, helpful, understanding. I doubt I'm the only one.

Its not them being inept. All these schools are playing the same game. Applications are down and they are trying to all get the same students while trying to protect their yield and students are playing the same game they always have...trying to get more money. they are trying to decide whether to lower GPA/LSAT numbers and maybe damage there future rank or just have a smaller class. And since schools keep waiting to inform students, they keep waiting to hear before they make a decision and round and round it goes. I think a lot of schools really underestimated how many applications there would be this cycle. I have other schools that I haven't heard a peep from and I know its the same for others.

People have been saying the same things about Stanford,UNLV, New Mexico as well as UCLA.


Its just a big game of who will blink first.

I'm considering asking them to match U of A's offer as well. Keep us updated if they get back to you soon.

Like Mewalke1 said, just like we are trying to go to the best school at lowest COA, they are trying to fill the best class, giving out as little as possible. They likely don't care that you think they may be inept, because when it comes down to it, you are likely going with some formula of best school combined with low COA, weighted slightly differently from person to person.

I don't know what you're talking about, LL. I don't think anyone could have come up with "people want to go to the best school for the cheapest price" without months and months of careful research.

I received mine in the mail last friday and I know someone who got it the same day. Maybe it just takes longer to get to Seattle? You could call admissions. They weren't annoyed at all when I called.

I thought this might interest you guys. They say they are transforming legal education. I get the feeling they found a way to cheat the employment statistics. ASU created a completely separate entity non-profit to provide their students with full time long term JD required employment.
