That makes sense, but why wouldn't they just use the waitlist? Not that i would prefer being waitlisted.

Re: William & Mary c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Err... I think I just scored a giant scholarship/fellowship. But the way that it's written is pretty unclear. It says 13k/yr fellowship plus 24k, but doesn't specify whether the 24k is renewable.
It says "... you are the recipient of a 24k scholarship for the coming three years." ... does that mean 24k distributed over three years or 24k per year?
Letter goes on to say "Total value of your annual award is 37k." That math only makes sense if the 24k scholly is 24k/yr, correct? IE 24k + 13k = 37k. And "annual" here means 37/yr right?
If so, that's just about a full ride. Need someone else to verify that the 24k is renewable before I start freaking the fuck out.

If it's worded the same as my letter, then it is 37K per year. Which is amazing. Congratulations!seancris wrote:Err... I think I just scored a giant scholarship/fellowship. Check my edit, if you would. It says "24k for the coming three years".ks2499 wrote:If it's worded the same as my letter, then it is 37K per year. Which is amazing. Was awarded the fellowship and a modest stipend... more $$ would have been awesome (I wonder whether W & M are up for negotiations?), but I'm still so excited! They're definitely high on my list.

At work, so I don't have access to the exact wording right now, but I am positive mine was per year, not the entire award amount. I'm not sure why they would change the format of their award letters now, but perhaps someone else can confirm. I'm sure an admissions officer would be happy to clear it up for you.seancris wrote:Check my edit, if you would. Sent an email to admissions inquiring about the total value over three years. Wording seems unnecessarily ambiguous.

Wow congrats! the next paragraph in my letter after it says "total value of your annual award is X" says that the fellowship and scholar ship will be renewed on a yearly basis for three consecutive years ... so if yours says that it is renewable.seancris wrote:Err... Re: William & Mary c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Yep, that's what it says. 37k/yr, then. That leaves like a total of $800/yr for tuition.awasden wrote:Wow congrats! the next paragraph in my letter after it says "total value of your annual award is X" says that the fellowship and scholar ship will be renewed on a yearly basis for three consecutive years ... so if yours says that it is renewable.seancris wrote:Err... Haha, thanks! Was in shock about it, thought there had to be a mistake. They confirmed it though. 111k, same stips as everyone else (B average plus work requirement, basically). Still in shock tbh. And feel like kind of a dumbass for asking for confirmation lol.2012Lsatscore wrote:That's so great! And you were worried about waiting 3-4 weeks for W&L. They said it was based on my record at my ugrad. In otherwords, my GPA (4.0). This is consistent with what we see on LSN, as all of the 100k+ awards have gone to applicants with 3.9+ GPAs.
You can still get a great award with a lower GPA of course, just pointing out a trend.

For those admitted, has anyone tried to activate your myWM account? I can't do it because the system apparently doesn't recognize my ID number.
Might be a common problem, based on the thorough instructions on what to do if that kind of thing happens. Curious to see if anyone else has the same issue.

seancris, I had the same problem. I tried with the exact capitalization of my email (all caps, just like it showed up on my submitted application), but still nada.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
