How are Penn State grads doing in the Philly and Pittsburgh job markets against the other PA schools like Temple, Nova, and Pitt? Also how was OCI turnout?

I'm going Carlisle, seems like a nice town w/ out a lot of the distractions that UP will have, but still close enough to a pretty big city.

How are Penn State grads doing in the Philly and Pittsburgh job markets against the other PA schools like Temple, Nova, and Pitt? Also how was OCI turnout?

From what I know Penn State grads do well in Philly and Pittsburgh. Besides Harrisburg, those are really two of our big markets because of location. I will actually be working in Philly this summer, as will several of my peers (1Ls and 2Ls alike). I believe that Penn State does very well when compared to Temple, Nova and Pitt, though it obviously will require a little more work for a Penn State student because there will be driving and such to interviews. However, if you're willing to put in the work I don't think that there would be a problem finding a job in the city you're interested in.

I don't know much about OCI turnout because I didn't participate in OCI, but I heard positive things from a few people I know. Sorry I can't tell you more about it, but I don't want to ramble on about something I don't know much about.

Carlisle or UP?

I am at UP. I know a lot of students choose Carlisle because they think it will be less distracting, and it might be, but I really wanted to be in close proximity to the main university campus because I wanted to be able to be part of the PSU culture and also have the option to explore some graduate classes if I choose to. I haven't had any trouble being too distracted in UP - I think it's about self discipline and that will come into play no matter where you go to law school. Carlisle does have the advantage of being close to Harrisburg, so if you're interested in that market then Carlisle might be right for you. In terms of facilities, programs, etc. it really won't make a difference your first year and you have the option to switch your second or third year if you need to. If you have any specific questions/concerns about either campus then please let me know and I would be happy to address them.

Nice. That is the campus that I am interested in as well. How close is the campus to the Army War College?

Nice. That is the campus that I am interested in as well. How close is the campus to the Army War College?

I am not positive but I think it is very close. I think it's within 20 minutes (someone from Carlisle correct me if I'm wrong!)

I havent visited carlisl, but I plan to attend in the fall (and go to the open house), but I looked it up on the old google maps, it said its 9mins between the two... looks like an interesting place.
dunno if you're into target shooting but it looks like they have a number of ranges in the area for a decent membership price (compared to what I have to pay in MD haha)

I went complete 1/16 and haven't heard from Penn State since. I wouldn't think much of this except for the fact that everyone else near/on this date on LSN has already been rejected or accepted. What could the hold up be?

I've been complete since 1/13 and haven't heard anything either, minus a financial aid email that told me to apply for financial aid whether I made it in or not...

Went complete on 12/22/2011, received a waitlist offer today. I withdrew immediately, as I am currently weighing other options and acceptances.

Accepted yesterday via email. Says being considered for scholarship, and documentation will follow in the next month. Any idea what a 3.0/169 would fetch scholarship wise? Accepted into a few T20's, but money is an issue for me.

Last year the top merit award was $25k. That is what the Dean of Admissions at the time told me. There is a new Dean of Admissions now and I'm not sure if anything has changed. Looking at LSN for this cycle, though, it looks like $25k is still the top award.

I can confirm that 25K a year is the top offer as the Dean of Admissions told me that in my e-mail in regards to getting more scholarship money.

I have been under review since 2/01 and still heard nothing. They are taking their sweet time making decisions this year evidently. When did you apply?

I applied mid-January but my status checker didn't change to "complete" until 2/16,
so it definitely seems like they're taking their own sweet time from where I'm sitting!
I just have to keep my fingers crossed, I suppose
