Hey Folks,
I'm a Temple 2L right now, so if anyone has any questions about Temple, relocating, etc... Just shoot me a PM (I don't check threads often).
Cheers!

I enjoyed it too! Granted I've been an admitted student for over a year now, but that didn't stop me from grabbing a free lunch while working in the library! Seriously, if you guys have any questions feel free to ask!
Edit: Also, I'm surprised they didn't walk you guys around to the other two law school buildings on campus. They are actually nicer than Klein. Although one of them you'll never go to as a student; its only for random receptions and such.

I enjoyed it, but I was surprised at the number of people who brought their parents. Maybe its because I have been out of school for a while... but I just don't see why someone needs to have their parents (or in one case their extended family) attend ASD. Minor observation, not a complaint.loblaw016 wrote:I enjoyed it. Wish we could've been outside for some of itgrovevilleroad wrote:I guess this would be the wrong thread, but, thoughts on ASD today?
Temple has made my short-list after today. Anyone on here definitely attending after today's ASD? If so I would love to hear your thoughts and what made you decide (feel free to PM me)

Yeah, also surprised by how many brought the parents...weird. Was pretty impressed by Prof. Hoffman, Dean Epps, and Prof. Monroe. But the new employment stats for the class of 2011 scared the crap out of me...177 grads with JD required full-time employment out of 319 grads made me a little wary. But then again, class of 2011 went through OCI trough one of the worst times. But overall, pretty impressed.z0rk wrote:I enjoyed it, but I was surprised at the number of people who brought their parents. Re: Temple 2011-2012 Cycle
I liked it a lot actually. It was better than my visit to Fordham in November or December (it wasn't an ASD but just a generic open house). I am not sure if their ASD would be better, but either way, Temple had a better atmosphere. After the visit I am more willing to take on a slight cost to attend there over a full ride at Villanova (I still need to visit though), even though I plan on trying to negotiate more money from both schools before the deposit deadline. But, like I said, employment info notwithstanding, the whole thing was great and left me with a great impression of the school.z0rk wrote:I enjoyed it, but I was surprised at the number of people who brought their parents. I have Hoffman for Civ Pro. He is a fantastic teacher who really cares about his students, while still finding the time to pump out some outstanding scholarship. He's also hilariously funny.LAFish wrote:Yeah, also surprised by how many brought the parents...weird. Was pretty impressed by Prof. Hoffman, Dean Epps, and Prof. Monroe. Your employment concerns are totally valid. This years class is noticeably smaller though; I think we have around 270 1Ls total. Hopefully that helps employment some. I really don't know too many people without quality employment lined up for the summer, for whatever that is worth. Finally, while the job market still stinks, it is a lot better. Firms are taking on normal-ish Philly summer classes this year, and a few of us 1Ls even have paying summer associate positions.

I'm definitely goin to deposit. Mostly gut feeling but my decision was basically down to American, Cardozo and Temple and after talking to people yesterday and learning even more about the school I think it's goin to be the best fit for me academically and financially.z0rk wrote:I enjoyed it, but I was surprised at the number of people who brought their parents. ASD was great. I found all of the professors and Dean Epps to be very impressive and engaging. Their passion for all things Temple certainly came through as they spoke. The student panel was the only somewhat weak point, in my opinion. Agreed on the surprising number of (very vocal) parents there. I would never let my parents come, let alone ask a hundred questions. Kinda embarrassing.

Re: Temple 2011-2012 Cycle
So after the ASD, I am pretty sure I am attending Temple in the Fall. I, however, am not from Philly. So can anyone tell me what are some good areas to live in with a dog (he's pretty big)? I have heard that Fairmount is pretty nice. Is there anywhere else you would recommend?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
