Very excited.
Same here. My decision just got a lot harder!
I also received a call today letting me know that I got the JM. Still weighing other options but it is definitely nice to have on the table. Awesome program.

I wish they'd hurry up with a decision, I've been complete with them for over a month. The promotional literature is killing me....

Also accepted for JM, but there has clearly been a mistake as I withdrew a few weeks ago. Must have been a breakdown in communications somewhere!

Was any indication given as to whether all of the JM scholars had been selected already, or whether they'd be choosing new candidates if you don't attend?

From looking at prior year threads it seems like alternates will probably be notified with their scholarships this week or next. Then, if a JM candidate withdraws it is offered to an alternate and so on until they fill all 10/12 spots. It seemed like everyone who was offered 20k a year was also told they were an alternate so it doesn't mean much but a number did end up getting offered the JM.

Thanks AP613. I you don't mind me asking, did you apply for or receive the JM? We have the sameish #s and have had similar acceptances and scolly offers from the schools we've both applied to.

No problem and don't mind a bit. I applied, but haven't heard anything so hoping I'm an alternate, it would definitely make it a tough decision. I think my GPA is probably too low, but who knows. If you're trying to get an idea of numbers for the JM a few people who were selected already updated on LSN just look for the people who got $30/90k. Seems like > 166 and > 3.5 so far. Good luck.

Yeah, so they've had my application since November 23, 2011 and still no decision. W. T. F.

I just got my Feb. score back and I'm hoping they take my 6 point improvement into consideration in handing out scholarships.

I thought the JM doesn't require separate applications cause it's said on their page that "All applicants to the law school are considered for the John Marshall Scholars Program". Hopefully I'm an alternate too, but my LSAT is too low.

there was an email sent out back in late-november/early-december that had info about the JMS. application was invite only (although i think a lot of invites went out) and you had to write an 500 word essay on one of two prompts they provided you with.

Thanks. Seems that I applied too late. I like Richmond very much but it would be unaffordable for me to pay sticker.

I contacted the admissions office yesterday via email. They anticipate having all decisions out in the next couple weeks (mid-March). I forget if someone else had already posted this information on here, but I just thought I would share my findings.

I'm a Richmond resident and may also be attending next year, just let me know what information you are looking for.

you can also check padmapper.com, it lists apartments and houses for rent in the area. look for zip codes 23234, 23235, and 23226 - those are close to UofR

im from richmond, and lived in the lakeside area..about 10 mins from UofR, that area is nice, or the patterson avenue area..zip code there is 23228, you can probably check forrent.com or one of those apartment books, finding housing in richmond is not hard at all.

I'll second this, housing is pretty abundant and not overly expensive. It definitely depends on what you're looking for. If you're younger and 're looking to go out on the weekends I'd recommend using Craigslist to find something in the Fan or Museum district. These are typically older, smaller, and not as updated (unless you want to blow quite a bit of cash), but they are within walking distance to a lot of bars and restaurants.

If you're a little older and more settled, there are tons of apartment complexes and/or rental houses that are all within 10 minutes of campus. I drive by there pretty frequently, if you'd like I'll jot down the numbers for the management companies and pass them along to you for you call and talk to them.

anyone else check out the new rankings??? UR is up to 58! so impressive! they've come along way in the last two years. it's really given me something to think about.

however, their medians for starting salaries for both general and public interest are giving me pause. for such a highly ranked school i was hoping for a little higher medians. i suppose their averages may be affected by the fact that such a large proportion of their graduating classes go into clerkships. i guess this is really a sticking point for me right now. looking at the website for many biglaw firms, i've yet to find a single UR grad. not that biglaw is something i am actively pursuing, but having the option may be nice. can anyone speak to where exactly UR grads find employment? midsize firms? government?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
