Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I applied in late December and have been in review since then-haven't heard a peep since. Sent a LOCI a week ago.
Deposit for another school due in less than a week, so basically either be out $500 or just not go to indy.

Is this typical for Indy or are there more people applying this year?

Mercer, IU-Indy, Stetson, UWV, Quinnipiac, all have indicated to me via email that LESS people are applying therefore they need MORE time to decide who to admit. Apologies from Admission directors that deposits are due in the next 7 days, but it will be an extra 3-4 weeks this year for all decisions to be made.
Law school applications are down 20%.

They are projecting the first week of May, right?

Yes - Kinney sent an email out about that a few weeks ago.jvaugh57 wrote:"Mercer, IU-Indy, Stetson, UWV, Quinnipiac, all have indicated to me via email that LESS people are applying therefore they need MORE time to decide who to admit. "Thank you for your interest in our school. I am sending this email to give you an update on where we are in our admissions process. We are currently reviewing files for the incoming class and sending decisions as they are made. We plan to have all decisions complete by the end of the first week of May. We realize the admissions cycle can be a very stressful time for all applicants. I remember what it was like to rush to get everything in and complete as early as possible, and then wait, for what seemed like a very long time, to receive a decision. We appreciate your patience. In the meantime, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Patricia K. Kinney, Esq.
Assistant Dean for Admissions
Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law"
Thanks, Trish. I have many concerns actually..

Was the email in response to an email you sent or did you get it out of the blue? I never got any email like that so that make me nervous...

Out of the blue - When I saw it in my email inbox I thought it was a decision email, but it obviously wasn't. Got the email in early March. I may have gotten such an email because I didn't exactly apply late (Early December).jvaugh57 wrote:Was the email in response to an email you sent or did you get it out of the blue? hmm...don't know if I should read into this or not. Also, I question whether timely submission is an advantage with Indy. From what I've heard about their admission decision making process they more-or-less cherry pick scores once they've reviewed the files....And if they're going to keep everyone waiting this long anyway, why penalize those that submitted in Jan or Feb??? Don't get it. Alas, I just hope I get a part-time slot.

I would say don't read into it... ever. Haha. Law school admissions is just the black box over which all of us TLS'ers speculate. Best of luck to you!

You're probably right...I'll not read into it...or at least admit to reading into it anymore. Best of luck to you too!

Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
Was looking at their website for admission information and found this:
Anyone have any insight into this? Is this CLEO? I remember that some schools offer students the opportunity to start some coursework in the summer-but this sounds like it's primarily for those who might have barely missed the drop offs for median #'s (like me). I'd totally be down for this though. Each year, the Admissions Committee selects between 25 and 35 students from the entire pool of applicants for admission through a special summer program. Applicants selected for summer admission include those who the Admissions Committee determines can benefit from a rigorous, individualized summer course. No special application procedure exists for the summer program. However, to be considered, prospective students must submit an application no later than February 1 of the year in which they seek admission to the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law. All applicants who are not regularly admitted are considered for summer admission.

Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I asked admissions about this a few weeks ago and they seemed to indicate that the admissions committee decides who should take the summer course. Like you, my numbers are around the median for the part-time. Having been out of school for 7 years they said, pending admission, it was likely I'd be a part of the course. You can request to be considered for the summer program, in fact, there might even be a question on the application about it...it's going on 4 MONTHS since I applied so I've forgotten what the app. looks like.

on my letter it said my seat deposit was May 1st... so maybe no movement for two weeks?

Wanted to add some info:
File complete as of Jan 10. Date changed several times up to April 4 when it said decision letter sent. About a week before April 4th, the Program Time changed from Either to Full Time. I received a welcome letter in the mail today dated April 11. The letter gave no information regarding scholarships.
Does everyone get a scholarship? I am an Indiana resident. I am going scholarship or not. I put an offer in on a house already!
Good luck everyone!

Hey guys!
I just wanted to quickly congratulate everyone who got into this school, and good luck to everyone waiting for a response or waiting on the wait list!
I was hoping that the people were accepted and do not want to attend can maybe post on here that they will be withdrawing? I am so anxious as to know when the wait list movement will begin and see if I have any chance of being accepted off the wait list!
Thanks y'all! Good Luck again!

File Complete early December
In Review April 11
Hopefully I won't be in review for a month before a decision like I was at Maurer. lol. For those admitted, do you recall how long you were in review before a decision?
