You're supposed to go both days of the program you signed up for. He didn't mean he's going to both the first set and the second set (at least I don't think so...).cawquette wrote:no way! why would you go twice? do you live in nyc and wanna scope out potential hot 1Ls? lolzawahoya wrote:I'll be there both dayscawquette wrote:I am! not yet but people have said that nyu began notifying people of interviews for named scholarships around last week in 2010 (last cycle).moneko wrote:+1LinzerTorte wrote:Anyone hear about named scholarships yet?

so maybe this week or next since everyone seems to be running a little late this year?

And as I understand it, they invite you to submit an essay for a Dean's scholarship, rather than giving merit outright, correct?hellome wrote:not yet but people have said that nyu began notifying people of interviews for named scholarships around last week in 2010 (last cycle).moneko wrote:+1LinzerTorte wrote:Anyone hear about named scholarships yet?

Re: In at NYU
I just found out that NYU asks where else you were admitted and are seriously considering on its school-specific questions on the Need Access. I find this funny but sensible and likely to play into likelihood of named scholarships. If you got into HYS, NYU will try to buy you.Frankie55 wrote:And as I understand it, they invite you to submit an essay for a Dean's scholarship, rather than giving merit outright, correct?hellome wrote:not yet but people have said that nyu began notifying people of interviews for named scholarships around last week in 2010 (last cycle).moneko wrote:+1LinzerTorte wrote:Anyone hear about named scholarships yet?

Which means they want to hold off on those named scholarships until they get some Need Access forms, hence the slowness.

I filled mine out a few weeks ago and there was no mention of this. Re: In at NYU
It was just one question on the form, but unless you put the cursor over the little question mark it didn't say what schools that was meant for I don't think. I also don't think that it should really affect the named scholarships. Maybe the Dean's since those are partially need-based, but some people might not have even turned in their financial aid docs yet and they weren't in the instructions.birdlaw117 wrote:I filled mine out a few weeks ago and there was no mention of this. Re: In at NYU
On a sort-off related note, how does NYU do scholarship money? Are there ONLY the named scholarships that you have to apply for initially? Are there rejection letters for those? Does anyone have an idea of the timeline?

I'm also interested in this. At this point, NYU giving me money would be a game changer.deathviaboredom wrote:On a sort-off related note, how does NYU do scholarship money? Re: In at NYU
Last year they came out at the end of last week, so they're a little behind schedule this time. That means they should be coming soon though. Apparently all the interview invites come within a week of each other (don't know snail mail or email), so if you're on TLS you can tell if you got selected or not. I believe they do notify rejections. NYU also has fellowships (merit/interest based IIRC) and Dean's schollies which are need-based. Those (a very limited number, I'm sure) can be up to full tuition if you're dead broke.deathviaboredom wrote:On a sort-off related note, how does NYU do scholarship money? Edit: RTK came out the end of last week last year. AnBryce invites came out 2/23. So basically still behind. Maybe RTK will be at the end of this week (tomorrow or Friday maybe?) and AnBryce will come out at the beginning of next week. Invites were by email, and it looks like they had interview locations in the bigger cities (so NYC, DC, LA).

Re: In at NYU
I do remember that now. I think it was optional and my cycle has been very underwhelming, so I left it blank.law_monkey wrote:It was just one question on the form, but unless you put the cursor over the little question mark it didn't say what schools that was meant for I don't think.
