I called the admissions office this morning and I was told that hopefully we would know by the end of this week. If I understood the person correctly, if you are admitted, you will receive an "admit package" but otherwise you will be notified online (and therefore not receive mail). So, maybe we will find out by Friday! good luck everyone and maybe even see you in August!!

We should find out via status check either way though, no?

Thanks for the advice. I don't want to seem impatient, so I'll probably wait at least a few days before sending an e-mail. I did get the e-mail acknowledging receipt of my application, which said it might be a "lengthy process." I think because CUNY has such a specific niche, there are probably a fair number of people who apply only there, so they don't feel compelled to follow the same admissions schedule as other schools. Just a guess.

No prob, sounds like a good plan. Let us know how it works out!

Today I called to ask about the summer law institute and found out I didn't get in. I thought I wrote a pretty compelling essay but whatevs

I found this on the website about the Summer Institute

"for example, students who have been out of school for more than three years, students whose undergraduate education did not involve a significant amount analytic reading and writing, or students who traditionally underperform on standardized tests"

Do you fall into any of the categories that they listed?

So did no one else hear this past week? I'm trying not to be impatient, but getting to the point where I have to know one way or the other fro logistical reasons. I'm hesitant to call for fear that I'll annoy them and it will be reflected in their decision.

It's excellent so far...for my class, which is two weeks, we are basically taking a condensed version of the first semester and going through whats expected of us, including how to create briefs and such. It will definitely be a benefit to take...

There's lots of homework! So far the biggest lesson I've learned is to be prepared! Even if you don't know the material 100%, the professors are looking to see that you're making a legitimate attempt - if you've done the reading they'll pry the right answer from you. You will probably be given a bunch of cases to read and then brief. Another big lesson I've learned so far is that you are expected to produce quality, serious, high level work just about every day. I have received but a glimpse of the workload that is expected of an individual...basically every night will be no joke.

Lots of HW? Really? Ugh. Oh well, can't really say I didn't at least half expect it. At least we'll all have a week off before the real thing starts. Are there multiple classes each day, or is it basically just a 4 hour marathon in one class?
