Under review now. I'm a big fan of the clearly outlined timeline that Dean Pless is giving us. It's kept me from obsessing over the status checker, and it's nice to know I'll have a decision in a week.

question time: Anyone currently live near U. Illinois? I've never to U-C! Just curious about the weather, housing situation.
Also, what is the grading curve? All you smart people are intimidating

You got a 163 virtually cold and have a 3.9 without the big C. I'm pretty sure you're the intimidating one.Barbie wrote:<3 this!!!!mcubberly wrote:snapdragon wrote:Aw man, now I really really have to push to get off the WL so I could maybe be at school with Barbs and Mcubberly!mcubberly wrote:In!! Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
I'm not sure of the grading curve, but my best friend went to U of I for undergrad. The weather sorta sucks as its super hot and humid in the summertime and gets very cold and snowy in the winter, but that's to be expected from anywhere in the Midwest. Housing is PLENTIFUL and expect to pay around $450-700 for a 1 bedroom. It's a super fun campus and there is always something going on.Barbie wrote:<3 this!!!!mcubberly wrote:snapdragon wrote:Aw man, now I really really have to push to get off the WL so I could maybe be at school with Barbs and Mcubberly!mcubberly wrote:In!! Thanks!! My boyfriend is coming with me and hoping to find employment-- but we definitly want a house, as we have 3 animals. We can put a down payment and pay a mortgage or rent (prefered). We pudget around 1200-1400 for a house payment/rent.stlisforlovers wrote: I'm not sure of the grading curve, but my best friend went to U of I for undergrad. $1400 for a house? I'm paying a few bucks shy of that for a 900 ft^2 apt. I love California.

That should definitely be feasible especially if you rent.Barbie wrote:

Oh, also... this is VERY important:
Is there a big RUGBY scene up there? Any men's teams? Big for the UG? Rugby=my life.

Nice. I grew up on the pitch-- my dad coaches the local highschool team, was captain of GA tech and played in france. My boyfriend is captain of our UG team and on the South team also. Must be rugbymcubberly wrote:One of my friends (female) who went to U of I played rugby all 4 years and was really into it. The team looked pretty big.Barbie wrote:Oh, also... this is VERY important:
