I am at the 25% on both GPA and LSAT. I have heard that I probably will not hear back until the end of the cycle. Anyone know if this is true?

Re: Loyola LA 2011
My status checker just changed, today I think, to say that a decision was made. I'm basically at 75th for LSAT and GPA, so should be an in, hoping for money. I applied for their public interest scholarship-- anybody know details about that? It wasn't too clear on their website, but thought it couldn't hurt to send in the essay. I'd like to work in LA and am committed to PI, so I think Loyola could be a great fit.

Me too... though your numbers sound better than mine. Curious to find out about that public interest scholarship.santisuk wrote:My status checker just changed, today I think, to say that a decision was made. Got the packet today-- in with the public interest scholarship, $87,000 (must be in top 30%) + $500/year for books and supplies. Excited! Not thrilled with the pressure to stay near the top, but still feel very honored. Unless I receive one of the full-ride PI schollys I applied for elsewhere, this is a top contender.
Best of luck to everyone else-- hope people receive some good news today!

In with 52K - with stipulation to be top 30%. 167, 3.3 - received letter on monday jan 10, but just came home to see it! Anyone know if they are open to negotiate in dropping the stipulation?

I highly doubt it, I'm pretty sure they attach that stipulation to all scholarships. Plus they may take it as you saying you're not sure if you could stay in the top 30.toptwin wrote:In with 52K - with stipulation to be top 30%. 167, 3.3 - received letter on monday jan 10, but just came home to see it! This is awesome - congrats! I was thinking of the PI route, too, but am not dead set on PI so I decided against it. $500 stipend for books is great as well.santisuk wrote:Got the packet today-- in with the public interest scholarship, $87,000 (must be in top 30%) + $500/year for books and supplies. Re: Loyola LA 2011
they hand out enough scholarships to people with very high numbers as well as people with more reasonable numbers, that I have a feeling they won't remove stipulations, since enough people will likely accept with the stipulations.jamiLAW wrote:I highly doubt it, I'm pretty sure they attach that stipulation to all scholarships. Loyola seems to be near Venice. I am not familiar with LA. I lived in socal for 2 years but dont know my way around very well. Is the school commutable from the Venice beach area?
How good is public transportation? Is there any?

Re: Loyola LA 2011
The UG is near Venice, not the law school. The law school is downtown LA/Ktown area. It's definitely commutable but it's like a 20-45 minute drive depending on traffic.jarofsoup wrote:Loyola seems to be near Venice. I am not familiar with LA. Public transportation is...shitty, but doable. There are buses. If you have a car bring it, it'll be much easier than relying on public transportation here.

Any idea about that metro that LA is planning on building between downtown (closer to USC) and santa monica ish? I saw online that it should be completed "summer 2011" but I doubt that...Pleasye wrote:The UG is near Venice, not the law school. The law school is downtown LA/Ktown area.
