Any particular reason or was it just not a good fit?

Applied kind of late in the game, but I grew up in Savannah and would love to be back in GA for ever if I had to be. Complete and "ready for review as of 3/17". Damn February LSAT.
160/3.24 (3.7 at degree granting school)... looking for some GSU love here. Who's down for Braves games with me?

Is there an admitted students day for GA State Law?

Not sure if I am going crazy but... Does everyone who is still waiting to hear something have a seat deposit section in the Status Checker?

FINALLY, after two and a half months, went under review today... Any thoughts on how long before a decision?

Seat deposits are due April 15th, so maybe shortly after that they will make some more admits and denys.clemson09 wrote:FINALLY, after two and a half months, went under review today... Any thoughts on how long before a decision?

Ah sorry clemson, I just saw this post. So last minute, literally after filling out the withdrawal form, I decided to rethink it before making such a final decision and at this point, I think I am 95% actually going to attend GSU. What I didn't like was the campus and atmosphere, but the stats show that GSU is actually probably the best choice for me overall (in terms of employment, proximity to law firms/the capitol building, etc).clemson09 wrote:sstufken wrote:I visited Friday and decided GSU is not the right place for me- Withdrawing my acceptance today. I got waitlisted as of today. 163 3.6 FL resident. I never really expected to attend GSU but wanted an Atlanta school option.
I will be removing myself from the waitlist as soon as I am allowed to.

Out of state resident above their medians. I'm assuming that they have higher standards for OOS applicants.

I was accepted to UGA but i am pending further review at GA State. Do you guys think there is a big difference between the two in terms of quality of education and job prospects?

Sorry, but that was truly necessary in this case. UGA is significantly better. As for cost, tuition is slightly higher, but Atlanta's higher CoL would eat away any savings on that front.

Re: Georgia State University - 2011 Applicants
UGA is ranked higher (#35 vs #62 in this year's rankings). But I think GAState is well respected in the Atlanta market. Plus being in Atlanta next to all state government offices helps them. They are both regional schools. If you are considering staying in Georgia after law school, either should work, but all things being equal (cost, etc.) you may want to pick UGA.umilikechips wrote:I was accepted to UGA but i am pending further review at GA State. I am a Florida resident with a 164 and 3.6.... and I got WAITLISTED??? I don't understand this move at all. In all honesty I didn't plan to attend here but this just doesn't make any sense to me... It must be a Florida resident thing, I can't wait to remove myself from their waitlist.Mattfl88 wrote:I got waitlisted as of today. 163 3.6 FL resident. Re: Georgia State University - 2011 Applicants
Hello, all. I just found this board...
I'm instate for GSU, 3.3/154. I'm nontraditional, and applied for PT day. I'm a "diversity" candidate, but I'm not URM. I'm an out lesbian - I volunteer in that area, expect to practice in an LGBT-related field, etc. I don't know if/ how that will affect my app, but there it is. My personal statement addressed it, so they def know.
I didn't submit until 3/15, and it wasn't complete until yesterday. Either the USPS or LSAC lost one of my recs, and I had to overnight it last minute. Talk about sweating it out.
Wish you all luck!

I applied 3/14 and received my acceptance 4/1 to the PT Evening Program. I'm In-state with a 155 and 3.66 GPA and a URM. Good luck to everybody still waiting.

For those that heard a decision... Was it via status checker, email or snail mail?

Status checker initially; snail mail followed a few days later.clemson09 wrote:For those that heard a decision... Was it via status checker, email or snail mail?

Mine went complete on 3/9 and just went into review on 3/31. Trying PT Evening with a 156 and 2.86 Cum. GPA (3.19 degree granting from almost 10 years ago).
Anyone else with similar time frames or know how long "review" takes?

My "second review" turned into a waitlist today in the mail.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
