Re: Pepperdine 2011
Congrats to everyone who has got in, or got in with scholarships. I want to re-affirm something that has been mentioned before. The scholarship stipulations are nerve-racking. For those of you with large scholarships, keep in mind that 1/3 of the class does not have 25 or 42K per year schollys. Many have 5,10 or 15K scholly's so yes, getting that big scholly is an achievement.
It is NOT random who keeps scholarships as some of the 0L TLS gurus will tell you. You have a big scholly because you're good at taking tests and know how to study, keep those trends up and you'll increase your chances of keeping it. Even if you lose it, there are other scholly's out there for your 2nd and 3rd years, and at a min. you save 25-42K anyways, nicely done.
The school is not as conservative or "christian" as TLS may have you believe. You will find a diverse group of students, many of whom are left of center, or right of center. If you love conservatism and Christianity, join the relevant clubs at school. For everyone else, the atmosphere is about studying, bar review, jobs, bar review, eating lunch at a place that overlooks the ocean.
I forgot to mention...the professors's political views rarely come out, when they do, you find about half are conservative, half are liberal.

Re: Pepperdine 2011
I got accepted into Pepperdine recently.
They have already posted my financial aid award letter on wavenet.
I also got a 25k scholarship.
My direct plus loan has already been awarded.. but I was looking up the loan and I see it is based on credit,
so I was wondering.. could it be possible that although I've been awarded.. if I don't meet eligibility requirement for the loan,
they will take the offer back?
Anyone know?

If the loan has been awarded, your credit has already been evaluated, and it was sufficient. The plus loan credit check isn't all that high a bar to pass. If you mess up during school, by defaulting or getting judgments against you on something, then they may deny you in the future, and you will have to get a co signer. But your credit is only assessed when you apply, so once a year.

Re: Pepperdine 2011
Can any current Pepperdine students give me an idea as to when the financial aid is disbursed? Considering classes are in August, I'll have to have an apt by then and I am wondering whether I will have to front my first months rent before I get my financial aid.

I grew impatient and gave admissions a call. Went complete in late jan. They entered my personal info and said I would hear back in 3-4 weeks

Anyone know when they notify for the Pepperdine Diversity Scholarship?
Also, any reports of what the typical amount is for this scholarship?
Good luck to all.

Re: Pepperdine 2011
I sent my diversity scholarship off two weeks ago. I then got my financial aid award package via wavenet last friday, with a diversity scholarship of 25k a year. I then got notification in the mail on Monday of the scholarship.kalishresearch wrote:Anyone know when they notify for the Pepperdine Diversity Scholarship?
