Now that I looked at my calendar, I don't know if I can make it event though I received the $$ offer. I may have to do a mini visit.

Also, for anyone interested, I just called to ask if they could up the travel $ (most of the flights from my area are almost twice their $ offer) and they said no.sanguar wrote:This has been a topic both here and in the Applicant thread (so I'll post in both, sorry to those who read it twice), but I just got an email offering me $$ for travel to ASD. Edited to add the "no" because I'm dumb.

Damnit... somehow I cut off the "no" when I pasted the text in! I'll go back and edit to correct too.r6_philly wrote:What is this a joke?awilson11 wrote:??sanguar wrote:Also, for anyone interested, I just called to ask if they could up the travel $ (most of the flights from my area are almost twice their $ offer) and they saidsanguar wrote:This has been a topic both here and in the Applicant thread (so I'll post in both, sorry to those who read it twice), but I just got an email offering me $$ for travel to ASD. Haha that's pretty awesome.
Well I'm really glad travel stipes are going out. I'm pretty psyched about ASW, no lie. I think that's what will make or break UT for me.

Just got a pretty decent sized scholarship offer in the mail today. Made my day to say the least.

No ASW stipend for me, unless they're going out in phases. I'm going to pretend it's because (a) they know I can't come or (b) they know I went there for undergrad and don't see the point, not because they don't love me.

is scholarship sent with the main packet, or did you receive a separate envelope detailing scholarship information?bidnez11 wrote:Just got a pretty decent sized scholarship offer in the mail today. Made my day to say the least.

I want to go to ASW, but I'm not going to receive a stipend or even an invitation, because I won't be an AS yet.

Re: IN AT The University of Texas Class of 2014
I am posting this in the University of Texas class of 2014 thread too so bear with me if you see it twice, I am just a little confused. I just got my scholarship offer of $9500/year. However, they are also giving me a Nonresident Tuition Exception, which they value at $48k. I am assuming this means they are charging me in-state tuition (the numbers match up roughly). Can anyone clarify this for me? They value the entire scholarship at 76.5k, and if it is 76.5k from the out of state numbers then I have to say I am pretty happy.

Yes. If you imagine that they were charging you oos tuition, then they would be, in effect, giving you 76.5k over three years.awilson11 wrote:I am posting this in the University of Texas class of 2014 thread too so bear with me if you see it twice, I am just a little confused. Also yes: they are charging you in-state tuition and giving you 9.5k/yr. It's just an accounting difference. Instead of giving you 76.5k off of oos tuition, they're giving you 9.5k/yr off of in-state tuition. For your pocketbook it's the same thing though.

Thanks. That is what I thought, but it wasn't spelled out perfectly in the letter so I figured I would check to make sure.sanguar wrote:Yes. It was sent in a small white envelope a week after I received the packet in the mail. The acceptance phone call mentioned the scholarship offer as well.melamine wrote:is scholarship sent with the main packet, or did you receive a separate envelope detailing scholarship information?bidnez11 wrote:Just got a pretty decent sized scholarship offer in the mail today. Kinda sleeting/freezing rain in my part of Austin. I've heard the car accidents have already begun...

Not surprising that Texans don't know how to drive on ice.francisConn wrote:Kinda sleeting/freezing rain in my part of Austin. I've heard the car accidents have already begun...

Re: IN AT The University of Texas Class of 2014
Beautiful snow day here in Austin. Everything is closed.
I love Texas weather, very mild winters, just cold enough to enjoy the occasional Friday off work or a white Christmas.
Roads are dangerous though, I just stay clear when it ices. People really don't know how to drive in these conditions, myself included.
