Still on the waitlist for PT as well since December. Good luck!reddituser wrote:Waitlisted P/T via snail mail last week, 157/2.96. If anyone's seen movement, let us know! Also my letter says something like additional information or letters of recommendation will likely not have an effect on your chances of admission; does this mean don't send a LOCI?

Has anyone gone to one of those information sessions/tours that Marquette holds periodically?

Withdrew since I got no money. They are very stingy.

Re: Marquette 2011 Applicants
they gave me 4k a year (no stips, which i assume is for all schollys). i emailed financial aid and told them about my 15k from Hofstra and i was shut down. i really like their sports law program but for no. 95 overall and 33k a year... pretty sure i am going to withdrawal. although COL of living near campus seems very cheap.
anyone have any success negotiating? the response felt like a brick wall.

Re: Marquette 2011 Applicants
I tried negotiating. 16k a year originally and was flat out denied. Not even a moment of consideration. That's okay, I got into Pepperdine today so I will be withdrawing immediately. I hope one of you gets my money or that they split it up to give it to a few of you who want/need more.

I got denied with a 160/3.78 gpa. I'm assuming that it was my criminal conviction and/or the fact that I'm a lesbian. Not sure why they would reject me with those numbers. I'm also a lifelong Milwaukee-area resident. I got into some other schools with the same application materials so it couldn't be a bad PS etc... so yah.

Anyone going to ASW next week? I was planning on visiting next month and hit DePaul and Indy Law in one trip but Marquette offered me a pretty sweet scholarship so I am pretty much sold on the school... I've never been to Milwaukee so anyone have any hotel recommendations? I'm getting super excited to meet some classmates!

For those of you who already received a response, did you get any notification about your decision, or did the letter just randomly show up in the mail?

Admitted in November via e-mail. Received the admit package about a couple of weeks later.EstboundNDwn wrote:For those of you who already received a response, did you get any notification about your decision, or did the letter just randomly show up in the mail?

Nope, I was shutdown as well. Historically, they have never negotiated. They apparently do not like getting into bidding wars with other law schools. They have their own niche in Wisconsin - with only one other school competings and therefore they do not bother.nyk4life wrote:they gave me 4k a year (no stips, which i assume is for all schollys). i emailed financial aid and told them about my 15k from Hofstra and i was shut down. i really like their sports law program but for no. 95 overall and 33k a year... pretty sure i am going to withdrawal. although COL of living near campus seems very cheap.

I know I applied really late but I am hoping I still have a real chance.

On another note, is there a reason you applied so late? I think you have a really good shot at better schools than the ones you're applying to.
And if you're dead set on those schools, you would definitely have a shot at much bigger scholarship offers had you applied in before January 1.

Re: Marquette 2011 Applicants
I did not really start thinking about attending law school this year until late last year. Previously I had been thinking about getting another degree and then going to law school. Anyway I registered for the February LSAT in December and started studying for it when I got back to school in January. From there I wanted to see what score I would get before I started applying. By the time I got the score and all my stuff was finally arriving at LSAC (letters of rec) it was the end of March. There you have it, the reason I am applying so crazy late. I am just hoping that I still get admitted and if I am really lucky get offered a scholarship. Reading this forum has got me worried.

This forum, third tier reality, LSN, and LSD have taken about 5 years off my life.

Third tier reality huh! *Off to google that
Before I found this site I would have been ecstatic to just get in to Marquette and more than content to pay full price. Now I am not only worried about getting accepted, but also really nervous about paying full cost as I know (or I think) I could have gotten at least some money from the school if I had applied much earlier. I think by now I am pretty much just reading this forum in hopes of seeing people with lesser numbers then me get admitted to make myself feel better.
Also since I have sent my application I have not gotten a single email from the University, I was expecting them to at least confirm receipt of it. Do they normally send one right away? Ahh. Makes me much more nervous.

Aw damn, I opened Pandora's box. Keep in mind that third tier reality kind of gets into your head (in a bad way). Had I not gone to that site I would have applied to a lot more schools. Those blogs are usually the extremely pessimistic side of the legal market.coolgreen44 wrote:Third tier reality huh! *Off to google that

All I'm saying is that if you take a look at profiles on law school numbers, or input your numbers into law school predictor, you'll notice people with similar numbers have gotten pretty solid scholarships, and a lot of them have gotten into better schools than the ones you're applying to.

I'm surprised you haven't got a response yet. Looks like people who applied slightly before and after you have gotten replies. I guess that means any day now you will get your acceptance.EstboundNDwn wrote:Ha, at least you're already waitlisted. Also based on this thread am I correct in saying Marquette does not have a status checker?
I want them to send me an email or something
