These false alarms can be frustrating. I REALLY hope to hear from Emory soon though, as it is getting late in the cycle. They were clear from the start that it would be mid-February, but it doesn't make it any less difficult to wait.

I just checked my e-mail and no news. I seem to have forgotten that Emory does not have a status checker.

Here's to hoping a lot of tlsers get acceptances in the first batch next week!
Yeah, just to clear the air... That's me on there on LSN, and yeah, I'm a Woodruff Finalist. Sorry to confuse people as to whether there were actual acceptances yet, I didn't even realize people would look at my measly profile (I put it up really for myself so I could keep track of everything in one spot).
But dang, you guys are good.

Underground ATL and the Coke museum (try not to overdo the free samples, you will get sick).

I can't believe Emory still hasn't issued any decisions. This is going to hurt their ranking, unless they throw serious money around. Most people already have a pretty good idea where they are going, or have a short list.

Agreed. My lease is up May 15 and I need to know where I'm going in time to find an apartment that'll be ready by then. I can't just wait around to hear back from every school if they're all gonna take this long. I know there have got to be others in similar situations. Waiting this long is only going to hurt their yield.rbarcelo9 wrote:I can't believe Emory still hasn't issued any decisions. Hershey = Pennsylvania.rman1201 wrote:Isn't there some Hershey's museum and/or factory there?kk19131 wrote:I'll be in Atlanta in a few hours... anything special I should see?
Atlanta also has the CNN tower. The tours of it are pretty cool. The Atlanta aquarium and the Coke museum are across the street (I think) and are worth seeing too.

They have been either very slow or have dropped the ball on a lot of things. I very much hope that they - forgive the language - get their shit together, but it is disconcerting to read about the school these days (admissions and OCI).rbarcelo9 wrote:I can't believe Emory still hasn't issued any decisions. I think I just saw some hershey distribution center in ATL or something when I was young and figured it was the same deal as the Coke place.
They said from the beginning decisions wouldn't be until Feb. I'm guessing it's a new tactic to save more seats for the high LSATs and boost the medians a little more. Might backfire, but its worth a shot in their eyes.

Yep, this is true. There's a reason why almost every law school in America begins issuing decisions promptly. You're going to be much more invested in a LS that accepted you back in Nov/Dec than a LS that accepted you in Feb/Mar.kjadkins wrote:Agreed. Deciding on a LS is a time-consuming process; for some, it can take months to decide on a school. Emory has basically said "fuck it" to this process for ... well, for who knows what. Maybe they're gaming their numbers. I don't know why they're doing it, but two things are apparent: 1, they've pissed off kids who really wanted Emory; 2, they've lost the interest of top students.
One last thing - I'm tired of Emory saying that this is in order to review apps thoroughly, and give applicants full consideration, and yadda yadda yadda. No - it doesn't and shouldn't take FOUR MONTHS to do that.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the last acceptance/info/scholarship you get is what you're most excited about other things being equal. I end up favoring the last school to send me a pretty pack and nice scholarship - perhaps this is what they're counting on?

Re: Emory 2011
Amen. They were last to post their app, their website didn't work at that time, and now they are the last to release their first decisions. This on top of the notoriety they got last yr for their bad OCI. Don't they realize the image they are conveying???scruffs mcguff wrote:Agreed.
