Ugh.. this whole waiting game sucks. Madison is my #1 choice and I keep going back and forth on whether I have a shot or not. Looking at everyone else's numbers makes me think there is really no telling what is going to happen!

Re: UW-Madison 2011
Just thought I would let the waitlisted individuals with strong numbers (above median GPA and LSAT) know that it is definetly yp. If you are a WI resident and you got waitlisted with those numbers then it might not be yp (they figure if you are from WI that it is enticing enough to go the school). With this being said if you send in a LOCI and are sincere about it you will most likely be taken off the waitlist. Similarly if you have a lsat above 165 but a slight lower than median gpa and you were waitlisted, and are not a WI resident, you probably stand a very good chance of getting in with a LOCI.
I am sure that UW is trying to raise its median lsat but not to the extent of raising it to a 165 or 166... so the above situations are definetly yp, unless you just threw your app together.
Lastly, UW is an awesome school and if you any questions about it pm me and I can try to answer them when I find time.
Just my 2 cents and good luck everyone!

WL today. I'm about as much of a splitter as a person can get, so I don't know if I'm YP necessarily. I am out of state though, and I wasn't really considering UW anymore after their embarrassing loss to TCU, so I guess that means their little YP scheme worked. I will go ahead and withdraw so anyone behind me on the WL can have my spot.

Re: UW-Madison 2011
Yeah, just to chime in on this, most of the current 1L's got waitlisted. They like to waitlist if they have reason to suspect you may want to go to another school (whether it's high score or not being in state). I was from WI + upper 160's and got waitlisted. I sent in a sincere LOCI and was let in about 1-2 weeks later. I wouldn't exactly call it YP, as that's not what it is, but it comes across that way. They simply look for students who WANT to come to UW rather than students who SETTLE for coming to UW. This attitude may hurt their number slightly (those who take it as a slight and write the school off), but it makes it a much better student body to be around. Send a LOCI if you actually want to attend, and would do so.vlienj24 wrote:Just thought I would let the waitlisted individuals with strong numbers (above median GPA and LSAT) know that it is definetly yp. I also echo the sentiment of it being an awesome school! The student body here is awesome. And you really can't beat Madison, it has everything a law student wants and needs.
I also just noted they managed to bump up the LSAT median with our class, and may possibly be trying to do it again. It's nice to know our ranking is probably only going to climb until we graduate.

Status Checker says "Decision Made", but I have not heard what it is yet. Since this seems like "Waitlist Week", I am guessing that is the word I will get soon.

Ditto!
Did those that were waitlisted also have the "decision made" status before they were e-mailed?

Re: UW-Madison 2011
I sent mine in as soon as the December LSAT came through - it's "under review" right now. Hoping to get in! Should I worry about YP w/ a 175 LSAT? Of course I'm considering other schools, but Madison is still one of my top choices.

I was accepted with a 173 LSAT so I don't think YP explains all of Wisconsin's WL behavior. I am still strongly considering Wisconsin and can't wait to visit Madison.

Ouch. I gave it my best shot. Marquette, here I come!

Welcome! You'll love Madison - besides the cold and snow it's a great place.WarioLaw wrote:I was accepted with a 173 LSAT so I don't think YP explains all of Wisconsin's WL behavior. I am still strongly considering Wisconsin and can't wait to visit Madison.

Waitlisted... with a 158/3.7
Needless to say, after seeing those who were denied and waitlisted above I'm pretty shocked. My numbers are far below most. Madison was a huge reach, so I was expecting a definite rejection. I really have no idea how I made it on the waitlist.

I submittted my application 12/3/10 and it went complete 12/7/10. Also, my status checker now says "Decision Made", but I'm not sure if it updated prior to today's email because I don't check my status often.bucky0486 wrote:To those of you who got decisions today, when did you get your applications in?

For the record I had a 154 and a 158 with a 3.99 and I got in the off waitlist last year. Make sure to let them know that you want nothing else other than to attend. If you want to know specifically what I did just pm me.IamAskier wrote:Waitlisted... with a 158/3.7
