Someone was bound to do it eventually. This is what I could find from last year's thread. Second post is most helpful. Don't shoot me if people flip out after posting this. Also I do NOT claim it is reliable in anyway.

This might be a lame question but how do you know your index #? I've heard of them before but don't really understand how they're used and whatnot

From the law school report sent to LSAC. Go to completed applications on the LSAC site and there should be a link to click on. No one really knows how index #s are used on a school by school basis but they are simply a number representing a numerical value for your lsat and gpa score. This score, however, doesnt take into account gpa/lsat floors.

Wow I never looked at these-- I'm looking at the PDF and it's all jacked up. Like.. the text is not even legible. Should I be concerned?

Edit: I guess not, since it's the same way at schools where I've already been admitted. But still, annoying..

What browser are you using and is Adobe updated?

You probably shouldn't be, because it's likely an error with your PC. It takes me a while to load it. Call LSAC tomorrow if it makes you twitch too much

Haha thanks- everything about my computer oooolldd (apparently I can't even sync my new iPhone because it requires the new iTunes- which requires a system update that costs MORE money.. screw you, Apple)

This is very good to know... I always figured the index numbers might be meaningful, but no one ever talks about them here (as far as I've seen) so I kind of forgot about them. I'm at 4.2, which makes me borderline for CLS RD (according to last year's thread, I've got a 20-25% shot), but honestly that's sort of better than I thought. I'll hope that my softs set me apart somewhat and make me part of that 25 percent

Read through some threads from last year.

For RD:
4.4+ In
4.3 Maybe
4.2 Possible
4.1- Unlikely

ED seems to shuffle the 4.3 ppl in as a sure thing.

Hrm. 4.454 if they were to just look at my higher LSAT, 4.296 if they choose to average (the LSAC report lists both and rounds them to 4.5/4.3). I suspect they'll do the latter. Kinda regretting not EDing at this point, but oh well. C'est la vie, right?

Anyone know if the TLS index reporting/speculation has been based off of LSP or LSAC? I'm just under the magical 4.3 threshold for LSP, but LSAC rounds up.

If I remember correctly the index number on the sheet sent to Columbia gets rounded to the nearest tenth, so maybe we shouldn't read too much into these numbers. That said, if it's true that 4.3's get in with ED with 3:1 odds, I like my chances.
