Maybe YP? I hear ND really likes the "Why" statements.krad wrote:Amen!stlisforlovers wrote:Yikes, you got into GULC but got straight rejected from ND? Good to hear, because I wrote one all about their 'different kind of lawyer' and my Catholic upbringingLwoods wrote:Maybe YP? He has solid numbers, but I don't think strong enough for YP. I'm hoping they just put a lot of weight on whether you write a Why ND? essay.Lwoods wrote:Maybe YP? I think that's the type of YP they practice:stlisforlovers wrote:He has solid numbers, but I don't think strong enough for YP. I'm hoping they just put a lot of weight on whether you write a Why ND? essay.Lwoods wrote:

Has anyone else noticed how late Notre Dame is with coming out with decisions? A quick comparison between the 2009/10 and the 2010/2011 applicants on lawschoolnumbers.com show a considerable amount of decisions had been made by this time last year.

They had non-binding early decision last year.jmtanoury wrote:Has anyone else noticed how late Notre Dame is with coming out with decisions? My numbers are good enough to get into ND (I think? 167, 3.96) but I'm getting nervous because I didn't write a "Why" essay. Is it too late to send one in? And if not, do I just email it?

Email it immediately. It is hugely important.Haliburton wrote:My numbers are good enough to get into ND (I think? 167, 3.96) but I'm getting nervous because I didn't write a "Why" essay. Is it too late to send one in? And if not, do I just email it?

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
does ND allow an applicant to augment their file once it is under review? some do not. i have strong numbers for ND, but did not write a Why essay, so i'm curious about the answers to these questions as well.

Still no word from ND but it is a reach school for me (165/3.4) and the sticker price would probably end up being too high. I am still hopeful though. As other posters have mentioned, the reach of ND is much better than that of other similarly ranked schools and that makes it very appealing.

I'm a 1L. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.a11 1n wrote:Still no word from ND but it is a reach school for me (165/3.4) and the sticker price would probably end up being too high. I'm responding to several of the above posts, not just the one I quoted.
First, ND takes FOREVER to get back to you. I think they actually use a faculty review committee, and those folks are busy grading exams (or should be if they aren't). Also, they tend to let you know about merit aid in the admit letter, so that might take additional time. They were the last school I heard from last year.... thirteen weeks of waiting.
They do give merit aid to almost everybody admitted, though... check out LSN or the ABA data. They don't give out large awards, but it seems like everybody and their brother has half tuition or close. I pulled $90,000. In my experience, they don't negotiate, although I do have classmates that claim to have gotten minor movements in scholarship dollars.
The "Why ND?" essay is critical. If you didn't send one in, then do so... they're very friendly and I'm sure they'll let you add it to the file. They're also very into ethics and leadership ("different kind of lawyer") so try to brag up any such items in your applications.
Hope that helps!

Went complete on 12/23. The London program excites me (shameless Anglophile).
Good luck y'all!

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
called earlier this week to discuss something with my application and they mentioned they are "so far behind" this year. After checking my file, I was told I had not been reviewed yet and probably won't be until after next week at the earliest. It's going to be a while.
btw- I submitted on Halloween.

For what its worth: I didn't do the Why ND? essay, applied late (in mid-February), and still got in with half scholarship (current 2L, so this was in 2009).theantiscalia wrote:

167/3.4 here. I will be applying on Monday as I am still working on some small aspects of the app.
ND is in my top 2 so I am hoping for some good news.

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
Is there any way to fill out the optional financial information page after they have your ap? I submitted my ap months ago now (haven't heard back...) but didn't fill out the page, thinking I would have time later once I heard back. I've been reading the website and it says that's the main way to be qualified for need-based aid, but don't see any way to dl the form...

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
Damn, I didn't fill that out either...the way it sounded on the application, it was for those in serious financial straits, which isn't really me. But that doesn't mean I still couldn't benefit from need-based aid, and was counting on at least something. Hoping we can still get it do it later if need be.JKill01 wrote:Is there any way to fill out the optional financial information page after they have your ap? Just submitted my app today. Didn't write a "why" essay but incorporate why into my PS. Hope it's good enough...
