Got my packet today as well. 15K first year scholarship. Is it hot in Tempe during the summer??

Between June to September Tempe will experience temperatures no lower than 90 all the way up to around 110. People say you get used to the heat. I think that's a lie. You never get used to it. You just learn to suffer better, which is why I'm gung-ho to move out of this state ASAP.

Does anyone have any information/opinions as to the benefits/drawbacks of sending a LOCI to ASU? I applied in November and have yet to hear a word. It is my top choice so I am very tempted to do whatever I can to help my chances.

I knew my chances were slim, but I was at least hoping for a waitlist.

Got my acceptance letter today. I believe it said full-tuition the first year and $20K for the second and third years. Isn't ASU's tuition just under $20K per year? I don't understand why they gave me tuition for the first year but specified an amount for the latter 2 years. Do you think this is because they expect to raise tuition above the $20K mark? Just trying to make sense of it.

I can honestly say the heat doesn't bother me much. Growing up I played in baseball summer league's nearly every year and the only golf I can afford is from May to September. Yeah, it gets pretty hot, but that's why you hang out at the pool

Incredible. A friend of mine was offered a nearly full-ride scholarship to Boston U, but rejected at Boston C... Guess it just shows you that each school is looking for something different. Mind sharing your numbers?

Arizona State is climbing the list for me. I was told from a very excellent source that ASU will be moving up "substantially" here when the 2011 rankings come out in a few weeks. I asked what that meant..... with no response besides, "I think T50 for sure". So I am expecting a 5 spot jump and from what I can tell the Dean is making changes to get them moving towards T30.

You should probably give them a call. It took pretty much the whole deadline but it sounds like they got back to everyone who applied EA by 1/31 so if you haven't heard anything, you might want to find out why.

Exactly the same here, got held on the 31st and by now, I've totally stopped holding my breath and am focused on other things.

I wouldn't be surprised if the margin between them remains the same. Every school is experiencing an increase in numbers. Curious as to who your source is in regard to the ASU USN&WR ranking. Someone from ASU perhaps...?

This year, UA's numbers stayed the same, and ASU's went up. I have some impressive classmates. Most professors seem to be impressed with our class as a whole. I don't know what that will mean in terms of rank, but we shall see. I am really impressed by our dean. He is determined to make the law school the best it can be.

Don't lose hope! I have a good friend who is a 2L. She was deferred and was accepted regular decision in May (without a waitlist).

Let's just say my source is someone who fills out the reports that go into the report and is very credible. I am going to project a 3 spot moderate jump (although I think my source would say 5-6). With the new dean set to make them the best school in the state, I think we will see a positive 2-3 spots/year increase for the next 3 years or so then plateau. Just a guess. If I decide to attend that is what I will be pulling for.
